Undoubtedly one of the finest bars in Amsterdam. Pity the masses who flock to Leidseplein in search of great beer and stay there. No, on the other hand, don't. That way there'll always be room for the discerning beer drinker. Food is very good too but make no mistake, this is a bloody fine bar and not a restaurant.

Searched this place out on a recent visit to Amsterdam as it was a relatives fave place years ago when they lived in the capital. Was a realise nice atmosphere with candle and fairy lights outside. Large selection of beers and even though I don't normally drink beer did try the Brigand on my cousins recommendation which was nice but... More

I just arrived Amsterdam with my brothers, it was my birthday, so we wanted to have dinner out. We arrived a little bit after 10pm (the kitchen closes at 10pm) and they made an exception. Really nice people and really nice food.

This was recommended and was just round the corner from where we were staying. Because it was Monday (or was it a Tuesday?) it was quite quiet so we got a table at the large front window, which was open. Good, plentiful well cooked food, and amazing beers. We left feeling well looked after!

Hidden down a side street, this is a fantastic little bar. Dozens of Belgian beers on draught or bottled, great menu of traditional food and friendly staff. Book in advance, its always heaving at the weekends

A 2nd stop on a night out after having had dinner out. The cafe/restaurant is slightly tucked away although within easy reach of the Leidseplein area. We opted for a a few traditional Belgian beers from the long list of beers on offer. For a beer lover it's like being a kid in a candy shop. We decided to have... More

Wish that our apartment on our visit (Air BnB) had been as good as this fine spot. Beer and staff as one would expect from a local pub, great. Food good and medium priced. Cheese balls and steaks well prepared and hot! Had a good experience and recommend De Zotte

Our first night in Amsterdam - eager to have a great Friday night experience at a neighborhood pub. We thought we found the right place. We walked in - great welcoming - our 7 PM reservation had our name on a table - just waiting for us. Loved that. Drinks came - a little slowly - but they came. Loved... More

We discovered this place out of luck and we loved it! Cozy pub that's open until late and with a wide variety of Belgian beers and more! The staff was really friendly and made the best suggestions for beer tasting! We ended up having a great time

Staying in Jordaan

Neighbourhood Profile
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
