It is an old style Salle de Tè with upstairs restaurant, international newspapers and a nice view on the channel. Recommended either for a few hours of sipping and chatting or for a quick business lunch upstairs. The choice is not the largest but good...More

This is a lovely modern cafe-bar, particularly good for breakfast or lunch and in a great location. It's also quite a cool spot to hang out in the evening; the bar is good and they often have a DJ in late evening.

We had breakfast here every morning sitting on their outside deck in the Autumn sunshine enjoying the swans and Canal activity. Great way to start our day

This is an old converted bank and was lovely a spacious inside. We stopped off here for lunch on our first day in Amsterdam and were hungry after our flight. We chose the tuna ciabattas and were very pleased with our choice. The food came...More

I've been coming here since 1993 on my visits to Amsterdam and it remains a favourite: great location with nice views and canalside seating, simple but tasty food and drink. Always worth a visit - service a bit slow, but who's in a rush?

Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the
Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its
saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to
view some of the city’s most picturesque canals,
historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples
of traditional local architecture – not to mention
Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist
temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some

Cafe de Jaren opened its doors in june 1990 as one of the largest cafes in Amsterdam, sporting an entire new and unique formula. The concept is mirrored in its spacious and light-rich architecture and interior decoration, as well as in its pleasant, non-pushing atmosphere. The large building features a spacious cafe on the ground floor with an international reading-table, a pleasant restaurant with large-choice salad bar on the first floor, as well as a superb canal-view terrace.Situated right in the centre of Amsterdam, Cafe de Jaren can be easily reached by public transport.
