One of the cities all time favourites and hidden gems. Classic dishes sometimes with a twist - really worth at least one visit and then more ...

I have been many times and going here was a highlight of my visit to Amsterdam. On this occasion I was very disappointed. The food was just average, portions were very small and everything took ages to arrive. Plus the menu is not that interesting anymore. Perhaps they need to spruce it up a bit and make it more creative.... More

The writer Bordewijk was famous for choosing weird names. The cook prepares food with unusual ingredients. Always tasty! And an especially great cheese selection.

It was our first time in Amsterdam and the reception staff at the hotel suggested we take a walk around Jordaan to find a restaurant. They said some of the restaurants are so small they don’t take reservations and it was a windy and cold Tuesday evening in October so we took a stroll and chanced in the Bordewijk restaurant.... we actually loved this restaurant once we went in. When peeking in the door, it looked like an empty gym; the tables were out in the square instead. Anyway, the service is very slow but I would just sit back and enjoy. the chef is classically trained in French Food. The home made pate was excellent. Chef roams around and... More

Really cute restaurant from the outside, sitting oprions both indoor and outdoor. Food preparation takes time but seeing the result it is worth to wait. Every single item on the plate has been touch by several chefs, has individual taste which would complement the other ingredients. Yes if you are planning to eat here,it is expensive and you need to... More

This came recommended by a couple in the Hotel Club Lounge and am I happy I followed their advice! Prix fix 3 course included Amuse Bouchr of herring with potato quenelles and crunchy bread with salt butter. First course of three prawns with greens and PORCINI mushroom. Main course of rare, succulent, tender duck with thinly sliced baby courgette (zucchini),... More

If you look for good French food in Amsterdam this is certainly a good place to visit (better make a reservation). The have a good menu and a changing day-menu with 3, 4 or 5 courses. Prices are very reasonable and the staff is friendly.

Staying in Jordaan

Neighbourhood Profile
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
