Had an early lunch here, both of us happy with our sandwich. Appears to be very popular with locals and tourists alike. Large for a pub, old and worn, but cozy. No real complaints about service, though somewhat standoffish. Recommended for anyone.

We stayed at hotel Cappuccino and found this café right opposite to it! So decided to try it out for brunch. It was pretty crowded, but we could get two chairs within 10 minutes. Our order for breakfast did not arrive even after we waiting for 45 minutes. On enquiring, came to know that the chef had an accident in... More

We love this cafe and come back time and time again. No frills, lots of personality with an old school brown cafe feel. lovely for a coffee or a glass of wine (especially when the terrace is out). just be warned, with the Lindengracht market on a Saturday this place gets packed! still a good atmosphere, but hard to get... When you get in it looks like a proper bar, but with difference in levels makes it look like a fun place for a nights out. Our first choice of seating was poor due to an overhanging speaker, so we choose a new high chair seat. I loved the low bar stools at the bar as well, but wanted to... More

We spent many lovely nights enjoying a beer and a mint tea. Wonderfully generous meals and bar snacks. you will want to get here early because the place was very popular each night, but we noticed there is a good turnover of people so we never had to wait very long.

This is a great Dutch style brown bar. Bigger than most, it's often full of a happy mix of tourists and locals. Beer selection is ok, but not a huge variety like some specialty places.

Stopped here for breakfast one snowy morning. We both had the Complete breakfast which was a croissant with butter, orange juice, and coffee/tea. It was very good, but they don't have normal (English) breakfast tea. You get a choice of 6 different teas. Overall, good food and good value.

Popped in thinking it looked like a quiet cafe, on opening the door we were with a full to capacity cafe with locals ans tourists with a great atmosphere. We only wanted a drink and staff we very accommodating. Best apple juice and a lovely coffee with a surprise...mini ginger bread biscuits which we then went out and purchased from... More

Stumbled across this gem while walking away from the typical tourists route. Seems to be a place where the Dutch actually go. Service is nice and great local beer on tap. If you seek something more Dutch come here and relax.

Staying in Jordaan

Neighbourhood Profile
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
