Such a gezellig cafe/shop in the centre of Amsterdam. Their zucchini and lemon curd cake is absolutely incredible, as is pretty much everything on their menu! You can choose from a huge selection of either sweet or savoury treats; from chocolate cake and french toast with hot chocolate to layered quiches of more than you can imagine. I think the... More

I went there 3 times when was in Amsterdam and I always chose my raspberry cheesecake. Now I'm looking for the recipe. That one is the best cheesecake in the wolrd. You should try it!

This place was very cute, it felt like I was in my grandmothers kitchen. There aren't a lot of seats, and it's not the most comfortable fit but the food is amazing. I really enjoyed the warm sandwiches, the coffee and freshly baked cakes. The prices were inexpensive.

Cute little cafe, awkward layout and uncomfortable chairs, but when you're in there you don't really care. The savoury pie was very tasty, portobello mushrooms, bacon and sundried tomatoes in melt in the mouth pastry. Would also recommend the banana bread, the quiches and avoiding peak times.

You can go here for breakfast or lunch. Very cozy and also good for take away. It took me literally like ten minutes to decide what to order, everything looks so yum! There are quiche, sandwiches and of course cakes if you want to have something sweet. Very good price! Definitely the best restaurant for a snack, lunch or breakfast in... More

The lady at our hotel recommended this cafe for us when we asked for somewhere good to go that would serve food and cakes etc after 2pm. It was a short walk from our hotel and in the heart of old Amsterdam. In one window, it is filled with cakes - chocolate cake, courgette and lemon curd cake, brownies, scones,... More

Honestly the best veggie quiche I've ever eaten. Cute, cosy (but small shop so be sure to not go at peak times if you don't like crowds) and friendly staff. Delicious crumble.

Wow, that was amazing! We had two sandwiches, fresh orange juice and hot drinks and totally loved it here. Sorry for not taking a pic of the sandwiches, but only of the laast kruimel... it simply was too delish!

A very small place, so try and get there outside of the luchhour... The cakes, the quiches, the pies they are to DIE for!! Good coffee too and a really quircky interior. Good prices, kind service! I could eat there everyday... (or take home some cakes...)

Read about this place and decided to give it a try last week. It's a small bakery/cafe with a vast display of homemade sweet and savoury baked goods in the window. And it was packed with tourists and locals opting to eat there or take away. Ordered the goat cheese and leek quiche. Wow! Just wow! Went back this week... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
