Three of us went dinner. We picked three different dishes to share. We were all in agreement that the food was very good. We also had the Ethiopian red wine which was perfectly fine. It was a really great experience in a nice atmosphere.

Extremely laid back place near to the city centre. There were 6 of us and we tried a lot of dishes from the menu. Everything is super savory and delicious. The food is very aromatic and you can choose from an array of meat, fish and vegetable dishes. Some are spicy, some not so much. All are very fragrant. Accompanied... More

Stumbled across this place on the way back to our hotel, and can confidently say we were not disappointed at all!! Having never eaten Ethiopian food before did not know what to expect....so we ordered the mixed meat dish along with a fish main as an accompaniment. Both dishes were outstanding with plenty of taste and spice. All washed down... More

Not a child friendly place. We had to leave, as the waiter ignored us pointedly and complained that our 1.5 year old did not stay in her seat. Better Ethiopian restaurants with real ethiopian hospitality are not far from Abyssinia.

this restaurant is truly the worst. Horrible service and tasteless food. The night we were there they were completely understaffed which resulted in me trying to get the waiters attention for 15 minutes. When he came i was apparently just looking at my phone so he walked off again (never said anything). The meat we ordered was chewy and not... More

I am a big fan of eating with your hands, so the place was perfect for me. The staff is very very friendly, which is a rarity in Amsterdam, service is quick and the atmosphere deserves 100 out of 5 points! I would avoid the deserts though.

When you walk in the smell of warm spiced fill your lungs. There's traditional art work and decor. The lighting is dark and calming. The food is delicious! We're vegan and they have a few delicious dishes to choose from! It is served in traditional style, which is very interesting. We also got a side from fresh squeezed orange juice!

We were here a few years ago and had a nice experience with friends. At that time we just asked them to make a big plate with all kind of selections. We always planned to go back there but never got around to it, until this week. But is was a disappointment. There was no option to select a plate... More

I went to this restaurant in 2013 and it was so good I took my friends there on this trip, we all loved it! Really cool decoration and vibe, the food is amazing, we ordered all the mild dishes and it was fine for the people that don't like spice. You all share a big platter and eat with your... More

We went to the Abyssinia late in the evening, past 9. The atmosphere is laid-back and wonderful. From the outside, we thought it was closed, because the lights inside were dimmed. We ordered the vegetable combo on injerah, plus a fish dish. The injerah was just like I like it: light brown and sour. The toppings were delicious. I thought... More
