The location of this eatery and the rather inconspicuous name can be misleading. On my first-ever visit to Amsterdam I only walked into this place to humor my friends and mock that name. But hey ho, the food turned out be great. So good that I even visited the place on my 2nd trip after 2 yrs. However, I did... More

Simple place, located within 10 min. of Centraal Station. We had the fish Madras curry, and a lamp curry with ginger. Had pratha and chapati breads. ALL was delicious. Service (like most Amsterdam restaurants in the tourist areas) is hit-miss. This restaurant service is so-so. BUT - the food makes up for it.

Good service, beautiful, tasty food for a good price value! Would definitely recommend - it's a 5 minute walk from Amsterdam Central Station.

As you might guess, this restaurant is in a notorious part of Amsterdam. (Having said which, for such a notorious area, it has an extraordinary number of what look like good eateries.) I wasn't really expecting to find great food, just a quick meal. But I found my expectations exceeded! Good service, and great Indian food. I had a lamb... More

Poor show, dry starter, curry didn't have any taste. Ordered Kingfisher but got Cobra instead. We were told to keep our cutlery from the starter rather than given fresh cutlery. Wanted to give less than one star but the naan bread was nice. Poor show

The Location - Well, if you are not familiar with the Red Light District finding any particular place can be a challenge. The restaurant is somewhat in the center opposite a souvenirs shop. I did not have any difficulty finding it. The Food and The Price - The portion of the briyani rice is rather generous. 2 persons can share... More

I was visiting here as part of a tour group. Having been to many Indian restaurants, it just doesn't stand as tall as those in America. When I think of Indian food, I think "spicy." I feel that it's lacking, and the flavor profile just isn't well-developed. The service and atmosphere is good, to say the least. Unfortunately, it's an... More

Had dinner at this place on a couple of occasions. This is located very close to the red light area but don't get disheartened. They serve really very good and tasty food and is well frequented by locals also. The biryani is worth trying.

I stayed in Amsterdam 4days and every single day I ate here. Amazing food. I had the biryani which is probably one of the best I've ever tasted. Requested for them not put in nuts too which wasn't a problem! Location wise not very appealing but don't be deceived by this!

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
