very modest from the outside, simple from the inside, once you get inside and take a deep breath you are in one of the markets of Thailand. food is great, staff is nice and polite. A must visit at Amsterdam

We fancied Thai food on our first night in Amsterdam as it is comfortably our favourite cuisine and we like to try it everywhere we go. We strolled past the Song Kwae and it definitely doesn't jump out at you amongst the hustle and bustle but I must recommend you go into here if you are after good honest Thai... More

The pad Thai was delicious!! Just the right amount of spice, sauce, and flavor. The chicken was well cooked, noodles al dente, green onions too largely chopped, perfect amount of peanuts. The thai iced tea was VERY sweet and had that funny taste that European milk has.

I have been looking for good Thai food ever since I moved to Holland, and have tried countless places that have let me down. This restaurant was a very nice surprise and is one of the most authentic places I've had! I can always judge a place based on their Pad Thai and the flavor here was spot on. We... More

This has been one of our favourite Thai places in Amsterdam for years. Service is always fast and friendly. The food is yummy and portion sizes are very generous. They also deliver at home. For dessert, go to Tofani's next door for an ice cream.

Good, not great in terms of the cuisine and the location. My friend and I come here to meet when I am in town. Avg Thai food in an average spot in Amsterdam

The food was good and plates were big. I had the sweet and sour chicken and my friend had the pad thai. Got here right before they close. It took a while to get the check. We had to go inside and look for the waitress.

We ate here after a long day's conference nearby. Unlike other diners we chose to sit outside. The scene is pleasant not as picturesque as some other canal areas in Amsterdam. The food was adequate though not special. The tom yam soup I had was pleasant, as was the red prawn curry - neither though matched the depth of flavur... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
