Loved this place. Staff are friendly, it's never over crowded, it's a great place for a beer and/or a smoke. The food is also not bad. Definitely a nice place to go and chill out to get away from the city life and main tourist traps.

My kid, being a very picky eater, was craving for something familiar. As we were on a tight schedule we decided to go to this cafe which was just a few steps from our hotel. Our server was not personable and hardly said anything, just took our order of chicken strips, fries and noodle soup. When the food arrived, I... More

We went to the Cafe Bar Tetra on Nieuwezijds Voorbirwal for a burger before catching our flight home from Amsterdam after a fantastic weekend. It looked cheap and cheerful and we just wanted a quick snack so that we didn't have to buy anything at the airport. The Tetra is on the main street, quite close to the hotel where... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
