Oriental City is well known for its excellent Dim Sum. It is served every day from 13.00 hours. It has a good dim sum menu but also many other dishes. The decoration is nice with many of the tables at the window with a view of the canals. On top of that, prices are reasonable.

When normally visiting a dim sum restaurant, the noise levels are up and the speed of service is very fast. Here in touristy Amsterdam both seem to be adjusted to the many tourist in town. Although there are still plenty of Asian guests, you do see more Westerners in this restaurant. Food is good, although the bamboo spring rolls were... More

The place was packed so we figured it must be pretty good, however we were a little disappointed with the wait time and quality of the food, The wait staff couldn't be any slower. My wife had to keep telling me that we didn't have to be anywhere because we were on vacation and I told her true however I... More

The food that three of us ate was generally good. We ordered a variety of dishes, and most of them were tasty. On the other hand, our waitress was rude and abrupt. As previously mentioned in other reviews, the cost of the food was relatively expensive. The interior of the restaurant was comfortable.

We visited this large Chinese restaurant with high expectations. It looks like a high quality restaurant and inside the ambiance was great. However, we were disappointed. The food was average at best. Generous portions but we eat a lot of Chinese and we both thought the food was bland. It was also really expensive. I appreciate Amsterdam is expensive but... More

We were there for dinner and ordered a few dishes including dim sum and chicken chew main but one thing was missing in all the dishes we ate... flavour! The food was ok, but I can't really say it was tasty. Having Oriental type of dishes you would expect some spice and flavour which is part of the Eastern kitchen,... More

The restaurant has a wide range of dim sum dishes to choose from, and all the ones we ordered were very tasty. The staff is friendly, which is quite an exception for genuinely Chinese restaurants (you visit for good food, not good service). Would recommend if you fancy some dim sum.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
