Had a free evening in Amsterdam and fed up of pancakes & waffles! Searched TripAdvisor for good recommendation but not overly expensive. Cau Amsterdam ticked the box, lovely food & wine, great service & well priced. Thank you

Having walked for ages through the red light district, getting hungrier by the minute we stumbled across this place. Busy but nice place for lunch! Good burgers, sandwiches and a good fragrance of truffles in the Mac N cheese. Pleasant service staff!

We dined here on our first night in Amsterdam. It's beautiful inside and the steaks were gorgeous! I got a 400g rump which was huge!! And my boyfriend got the 400g ribeye! We shared chips and onion rings and a bottle of Malbec. Our waitor Emil was really nice and he knew that there is also a CAU in Glasgow.... More

Great steakhouse. We went there in big group, around 25 people, and they didn't have any issues with accommodating all, although we obviously made a reservation in advance. The service was efficient and steaks were delicious.

We came upon Cau on our first night in Amsterdam. We ordered a Carafe of Malbec and settled in with five Tapas to share between my Husband and I. Prawns, Croquettes, Potatas Brava, Bruchetta, and lean beef slices. Everything was perfectly prepared. The Owner stopped by our table to see how we were enjoying our food. A very pleasant evening!... Had a fabulous lunch here with my husband in November 2016. We were just wandering around Amsterdam and found it. Super healthy and delicious! Highly recommend the lunch bowls.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
