The ambience is modern, light wood, elegant minimal furniture and fixtures...all in a beautiful old religious building, part of the fabulous Prinsenhof hotel we reviewed, with huge windows overlooking formal gardens. Our service started slow but after I mentioned it everything went very smoothly and they made up for it excellently. The food....we opted for 7 courses with wine pairing....it... More

Mustard soup and a tuna sandwich. Rounded of by a good glass of Macon Blanc. Good quality food, friendly and efficient staff, elegant and comfortable surroundings. What more do you want for lunch?

We stayed in the Prinsenhof hotel to celebrate our alma mater city and visit old friends. We were surprised by the quality of lodging and food in this hotel. Friendly staff, incredible location, and great architecture in this historic hotel. A must go if you want to stay in Groningen in an up-market hotel.

So lately I had been hearing a lot about this place. It was supposed to be quite the fancy venue for a good lunch or dinner, with high quality food, staff and all the rest. So I thought it would be time to finally check it out for myself. We went for a lunch on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Overall... More

Here with a few work colleagues for dinner. Food was excellent and the surroundings were nice and rustic with a modern twist. I had steak which was up there with one of my top ten tenderloins of all time. I'm knocking off one star as the service was a little slow and the wine list was not really a list,... More

Half year ago we enjoyed a great dinner at the Prinsenhof. We now tried the Brasserie and again it was great. A very nice ambiance with excellent food, great wines and service. The basilicum sorbet is exceptional. The Brasserie has a nice variety of dishes from more regular Cheese burger to the more exclusive lobster or king krab.

An unexpected gourmet experience with the 5 course surprice dinner. The service was not quite on par with the food, but on the other hand the price was reasonable

The Chef’s menu was excellent. The maitre d' and all the staff were top of their class, from courtesy to food and wine knowledge, could not fault them. As an aperitif we all had vintage champagne followed by amuse-bouche of top quality produce, thereafter six wonderful courses of meats and seafood including lobster etc. The wine choice was excellent and... Great food in a great atmosphere. Always good for lunch or dinner! You can either sit at the grand cafe or in the a la carte restaurant, both very nice!

So far my longest review but it was worth it. Finally a classy restaurant in the heart of the city of Groningen again that deserves a five star rating. In a wonderful historic building with connections to the royal past of this country. Many features remained which gives it even more style. It has a grandcafe as well but I... More
