I visited this place last night with friends and we had a great experience at this lovely little hidden Ethiopian restaurant. The very friendly staff helped us in a kind not rushed way, which made us feel extremely at ease. The owner was so warm and welcoming. I was realy impressed by the quality of the food. It is also... If you look for fine food or a fancy place, this is not for you. It is a small restaurant with nice colors; service is polite (and quick for us, but there was no one else there), food is within average, but according to my taste there was way too much vinegar. I mostly liked atmosphere, service and price.

The (New) Red Sea restaurant offers the best African cuisine, in a family-friendly environment. Really enjoyed the meals there during my visit to Lausanne. Cheers!

My husband and I are huge fans of Eritrean food and have done the tour of the Eritrean restaurants in the Lausanne-Geneva area, and the (New) Red Sea is definitely one of the top choices! The food is delicious and more spicy compared to many other restaurants. We usually get the tasting platter, even if we've tasted it all, just... More

I am familiar with Ethiopian and Eritrean food and whilst on an overnight stop in Lausanne I discovered Red Sea. I was warmly welcomed and my request for a 'mixed plate' for (usually for two or more) one was very happily provided. The food was lovely and a good example of the flavours of the region. There have been some... More

I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a more unique, incredibly tasty food experience in Lausanne. The food was fresh with great vegetarian options and the staff was extremely kind and helpful in showing us how to eat properly (use hands to fill thin pancakes with your entrees, no silverware). Overall great experience especially if you are willing... More

It is a great place for vegetarians in Lausanne. Order the "Menu de dégustation végétarien" for a variety of dishes served on the traditional flat bread. The food is most probably vegan.

My partner introduced me to this restaurant two years ago and now we go eat there at least once a month (it's addictive). I feel bad for the reviewer before me who claimed that they had an over-priced experience there because if there is one thing I can say, there is no restaurant you will find in Switzerland with a... Beware if you think that you will get 50% discount on "la fourchette"...apparently it's only at noon time! We were 2 adults+2 kids and ended up with a tab of 137chf!! To top things off, we had the equivalent of about 1/4 cup of meat overall, and the initial portion they brought was very small and we had to request... More
