We had a great lunch here selecting local food. All courses were great, including starters. We finished our lunch with nice sweets and coffee. If we have an option, we will stop here one more time. Restaurant is placed outside center in small narrow street...so you can enjoy food souranded by old houses but still protected from the sun.More

The food was ok. The service was all but lacking. The charge for your table cloths and then separately extra for service. In total €11 euro before you have ordered anything. Not indicated on the menu, much too expensive!! When asking about the 2 different...added costs, we were told they were too busy to explain. Not worth going, there are friendlier placesMore

We ordered only a main dish because we were not so hungry. We got a basket of bread and a bibita (small appetizer). The appetizer was a tiny tomato, a small piece of ricotta and a pinch of mousse. This was underwhelming and the bread...was dry. Our main dish was not special, but not overpriced compared to the other restaurants. In the end we paid 20 euro’s on the basket and the bibita, more than our main dish which were totally not worth it. We said something about it and the response was but you ate it... we definitely not go to this restaurant againMore

Terrible food!!!! Pappardelle with juniper berries in the ragu was awful. The ragu was over cooked and dry. The lasagna was totally burnt and barely edible. When I told the waitress she didn’t apologize. She just said she’d tell the kitchen. Then we received the...bill that charged 10% on top of the coperta! Almost 30€ for bad service. I WOULD NOT GO HERE.More

We were delighted that we escaped from the busier parts of San Gimignano to find the Dorando. It's a restaurant that has faith in its classic dishes and pulls them off with style. The guinea-hen supreme filled with sausage and mustard grain sauce was one...of the great dishes of our trip.More

This restaurant doesn’t look like much from the outside but inside it’s beautiful - all vaulted ceilings and artwork. We came in for lunch and amazingly were almost the only people in there. We took the tasting menu as it looked very good, and we...weren’t disappointed. Beautiful dishes, very nicely presented. The service was discrete but friendly, and accommodating of my wife’s food intolerances. The wine menu was more expensive than other restaurants in this area, but we took a local wine which was reasonably priced and it was very good.More

This Michelin restaurant has good food and service, and we ordered two different complete menus, to try a representative sampling of everything.

San Gimignano is a captivating medieval town, as easily seen by the increasing crowds it attracts year after year. It takes a lot to be notable in a place of such mystique, and Dorando has it. Most of the day tourists miss the sideroads and...alleyways that lead to some of the greatest treasures in these old towns, and here is no exception. It’s just as well, as this Michelin rated Ristorante is easy to miss. Please don’t. A reservation is usually the best idea, but if trade is slow or the time is right they are kind enough to try and accomodate walk-ins. It’s Italy, so the bar is set high already for food and wine qiuality, and Dorando exceeds it easily. Tuscan classic is the best way to describe the offeringsm, with sumptuous soups, pasta, meats, poultry and game. The tasing menu and pairings are also worth a try if there’s time: the tension here is always whether to stay and enjoy the food and miss part of the Town, or vice versa. Either way you won’t go wrong - and Dorando is not cheap - but town and taste are equally memorable. It’s a find!More
