Absolutely disgusted in being treated so poorly by a grown women in a foreign country after asking for assistance, just up the road has better ice...cream with more kind staff. It's been now three years that we spend our holidays in Livorno, and the Gelata (Ice cream) is of course one of the most interesting food in Italy. This particular "Gelataria La Grotta Blu" has something special. The taste is GREAT!!! The prices are OK,...and the lady working there recognize us every year, ask for news, and shows the same happy smile for ow three years. I recommand it for all the Ice cream lovers, because it is probably "Il migliore Gelataria de la Citta". Plus you can take your Ice Cream and watch a wonderful sunset.More

Lovely ice cream and gelato. Go for a bigger portion to try three or four flavours. The cones work out cheaper, but I ordered in a tub because it's a nice little souvenir. Good range of flavours.

It's the second time I come to Livorno and I couldn't not stop at the gelateria "La Grotta Blu" to eat their delicious gelato. The gelato there is made with fresh ingredients everyday which makes it tasty and appetizing! The service is also really good...and the clients are welcomed in a familiar ambiance! Don't waste your time reading reviews on Gelato places Every place in italy looks different on the outside and all taste about the exact same with the exception of a few different flavors at each. With that, all charge about the same...price. So go try this place if you walk by it. If you don't go by it, don't fret you will pass another that will be just as good.More

Well worth making the effort to stop by and treat yourself to some amazing gelato....it's not far from the Terrazza Mascagni. Price was very good, my partner and I both went for cones (3.50 for large cone, 4 scoops) and there were alot of flavours...to choose from (I had crema buontalenti, limone - which was amazing!- and biscotti with caramel. My partner had cherry - which she recommends! - and chocolate.) The lady serving was very friendly and patient while we took forever to pick our flavours. Seats outside to enjoy your gelato. Wonderful place to get a gelato. There are other dessert options there, as well. Outside seating area. A nice place to drop in after having a meal nearby. Highly recommended.

We were staying at the nearby NH hotel and we happened to stop at that shop for an ice cream. The ice cream was incredibly good and our little baby boy fell in love with the grandaughter of the owner. Thus we went back there...twice per day for our ice cream :)More
