I'm not sure what the previous reviewer was expecting from a place such as this (turning up at 7pm is not a good idea). This is a restaurant inhabited by Italians (a good sign) and provides respite from the hoards of tour groups and accompanying pick pockets that accompany them. We had lunch here on the 6th October and were... More

I like when you have restaurants that offers some new things that I have never tried before. In Cammillo I try fried sage leafs with a touch of anchovies that were espectacular., even though I am not a fan of fried things at all this was a exceptionally appetizer. Then we had a funghi porcini pasta with great flavor but... More

With so many great restaurants in Florence, I'm so sad we spent our last evening in Florence here. The food is mediocre and the service is on par with a cafeteria. For example, our concierge booked a 7pm reservation. When we showed up the door was open and the entire staff was eating their dinner. I walked in and not... More

The last time I was here was in 1973 as a guest of the American sculptor Beverly Pepper for whom my sister was an assistant in Rome. Ms Pepper took her business card and scribbled something to Don Cammillo and we were treated to a great meal. Last night my wife and I returned and had Geraldo for our waiter.... More

This place is somewhat of an institution, we were told to come here by two friends and so glad we did. The service is authentic and busy, highly suggest you book in advance. The food, incredible. The spaghetti bottarga was one of the best bites of our 8 day trip. Steak, raw shrimp were amazing. highly recommend the goat cheese... More

This is what I was hoping to find in Florence. Incredible food, this restaurant has been going since 1945 - that pretty much says it all. Absolutely authentic, wonderful ambience, outstanding food & service. I would eat here every day if I could.

Went with girlfriend, was busy but booked which I recommend you do. The seating is quite cosy so if its two of you be prepared to have one of those valentine style dinners where you almost share a table with the couple next to you. Luckily for us our next door neighbours didn't seem to speak english so no eavesdropping... More

We wanted our last dinner in Florence to be special and couldn't decide on a spot. This turned out to be perfect! Trattoria Cammillo was closed on Tuesday nights per Trip Advisor, but we walked by and found it open on a Tuesday night! All our meals were delicious - veal escalope with porcini mushrooms, steak with porcini mushrooms and... More

This was our first full day in Florence and after hitting up all the tourist attractions we were ready for dinner. We slowly made our way to Camillo which was highly recommended to us by one of my friends. We arrived at 7:20, 10 minutes before the doors opened. Even being the first ones in line, we were almost rejected... More

The menu is dynamic with a variety of choice for those not scared of tasting something traditional. From sitting down (close to the kitchen), everything was splendid. A fabulous way to spend our final evening on this jaunt around Italy. A vibrant Monday night we observed regulars being turned away, such was the demand. The atmosphere is helped along by... More

Staying in Pitti

Neighbourhood Profile
Pitti
Pitti is a neighborhood characterized by art and history. Renaissance architecture such as Pitti Palace, which houses five museums alone, introduces visitors to the green lungs of spectacular Boboli Gardens. Any visitor can wander through statues, fountains, and panoramic viewpoints. Around the garden, treasures like the Museum of Natural History of the Specola and Villa Bardini guide guests through Florence as the cradle of the Renaissance. End the day with an aperitif in Piazza della Passera or the more romantic Forte di Belvedere, which offers an amazing panoramic view of the entire city.
