What a wonderful experience here. Even though I made a mistake and booked a reservation here for the wrong day, they were still kind enough to seat the two of us. And this was on a Saturday night! Our waiter was very friendly and attentive...and spoke perfect English, making it so much easier for both of us! I watched him working the other tables by us and he gave them the same great service. Our meals were excellent, I had the bisteca for one and it was perfect - it cut like butter! My girlfriend had the stewed wild boar with polenta and it was delicious, as well as being a very large portion (she was only able to eat about half of it). For dessert we had the flourless/eggless chocolate cake which was basically a slice of chocolate ganache so incredibly rich - you really need to be a chocolate lover for that one! Heads up, it is an expensive restaurant (€146 for the two of us, mostly due to the €60 bisteca for me), but if you want to splurge you'll likely be very pleased with the decision.More

Our hotel recommended this restaurant to us and it did not disappoint! The server recommended a great mid price local bottle of wine which was quite simply put - phenomenal. We also ordered the Florentine steak for ONE, split between two people and were incredibly...full! Along with a fresh salad, delicious Tuscan beans and crostini appetizers with bruschetta and chicken liver pate. So delicious and a really cool interior restaurant! Highly recommend!More

If you want to taste the real Chiana beef. This is the place for you. It is not cheap the bistecca is priced at around 50 Euro per kilo. This is what you should be paying for Chiana a rare breed.

Quite simply the best steak I have ever tasted. Not small in size or cheap in price but delicious. The veal meatballs are also delicious, light and flavoursome.

Buca Lapi is in the basement of the Palazzo Antinori. Coming down the stairs, you will see an expansive kitchen with a wood grill. Very impressive. There are also two large dining spaces. The one we sat in has travel posters and patrons scribblings all...over them. The tables are white table clothes and the staff is professional and efficient. The menu has many options. We choose for the Cannelloni gratinati all Buca Lapi (Cannelloni Buca Lapi) and the Pappardelle fresshe al cinghiale (Freshly made ribbon pasta with Wild Boar sauce) for starters. Wonderful rich flavors. For mains, we had the Controfiletto alla griglia (grilled sirloin of beef) and the Ossobuco di vitelli con pure (Veal shank with potato puree). Nice portions. Some of the best examples of each we have ever had. To finish, we split a torta di cioccolato fondente (dark chocolate cake). Rich and filling. We had a nice bottle of red wine and an espresso was necessary to finish off this fine meal. Really an excellent restaurant for fine dining.More

If you are an American - stay away. I saw a prior review and ignored it, thinking it would not be a problem for a restaurant with such a reputation. It was exactly as warned. The table was next to the kitchen and the door,...as if they couldn't wait to get rid of us. Our waiter was great, but had only 3 tables, which tells me he was not one of their veteran waiters. Overall, you get the feeling that if you are Italian you are welcomed with smiles and efforts to secure your happiness. If you are American, you are simply a bother.More

Excellent Bistecca Fiorentina. The owner is charismatic. the place is authentic and warm. We had many appetizers as well including Frito Misto and the Chuck Pea Soup which were each amazing. The steak is amon the best if not the best in Florence. Hard to...get reservations so call in advance. There are tourists as well as locals. The staff was incredibly warm and inviting. Great location. We ate here twice. Amazing.More

We booked here on a recommendation from Matteo, our chef from our cooking class. It was one of the most superb meals we have ever had, along with some of the best service. Our waiter was well informed and answered all of our queries and...offered suggestions for us on both the food and wine. We enjoyed the tomato bruschetta to start and a fillet steak and 1kg steak as our mains, with a bottle of red to wash it down. Totally full we finished with a couple of dessert wines, again with great recommendations from our waiter. Do your very best to experience this restaurant, you won’t be disappointed. But please remember to book.More
