Food was terrific here and the kids were totally entertained by drawing on the tablecloth - my daughter turned it into a game with her dad where they made a list of what would be in their ideal room and then drew the room. The waiter also brought us goodies to try...some lightly friend polenta with a buttery cheese...YUM! Husband... More

Every dish served was delicious. We enjoyed the excellent food and service. Our server explained the origin of the dishes. Highly recommend.

We ate here twice on our trip because the food was so good! The small menu is fabulous and helps indecisive people like me make a great choice. We had pasta one night, the "magnifico" with creamy brandy sauce and orange zest, was to die for. And the beef stew the next night was also great. Very reasonable prices for... More

Always a pleasure to dine at Garga. An offering that's a little different in a very nice room in a part of town most never explore. Will be back soon.

Chef is amazing, creative delicious dishes. His pastas superb, artichoke season allowed for some great dishes! Everyone is an artist as well, and restaurant is filled with local artist's work, table art on display and chef is an artist - including in the kitchen! Great staff!

We had the meat cheese pear antipasti, and the insalada mista, followed by the gamberi with spinach and the fetucinne with orange and lemon zest. Fantastic! The other part that was cool and very different from the rest of Florence was all the cool art on the walls, very modern from Young artists. I will definitely be back!

It could have been just a bad day for la cucina del garga, but we were really disappointed. The food was very salty and didn't really taste fresh. Service was just ok.

It was off season, therefore the restaurant wasnt crowded and the menu was basic. A little disappointing about the menu. However, what we did have was excellent. The buratta...seriously delicious, it was the highlight of the meal. We had the chicken with Gorgonzola sauce and the chianti sliced pot roast, and both were both tasty. Service was good and we... Had a great meal here. The food was excellent and the service friendly and attentive. The art on the walls and the invitation to draw on the tablecloths added to the ambience. First rate.

Description
"La Cucina del Garga" arrived on the Florence restaurant scene when Chef Alessandro Gargani returned from an 8 year run as Executive Chef in New York City's famous "Mezzogiorno Restaurant" in SOHO. It is there that he practiced his craft, honed his recipes and started his family. From an early age, his parents Sharon Oddson and Giuliano Gargani AKA "Il Garga" had instilled in him their passion for food and art. In 2010, he returned to his hometown to continue the family tradition born at The Trattoria in Via del Moro and then brought here to Via San Zanobi.
The restaurant is an art gallery as well as showcase where talented local artists have the opportunity to show their work and customers can purchase paintings or sculptures to enrich their own private collections.
