The "bistecca alla fiorentina " is perfect, loved by all, even non-enthusiasts of beef. The antipasto of Carpaccio di bolliti is highly recommended. Good selection of reasonably priced Bolgheri to finish a perfect experience at a perfect price

We had a relaxing evening here with colleagues from all over the world. Our Italian host recommended some dishes and everything was very good snd tasty. Especially steak was soft and melted in a mouth. Nice service.

We were recommended to try this place by a barman at a local bar and it was a lovely meal. The tomato and bread soup was lovely as was the homemade pasta. The place is very traditional and you are provided a warm welcome and even a grappa when you leave. As a note they speak Chinese and English if... More

It had the appearance of a local restaurant. Everybody knows everybody, so familiarity was an Italian trait. The staff is nice, you feel part of the family. The food is very good.

We stumbled across this delightful restaurant when looking for a place for dinner late one night near the main train station. We were incredibly happy to find it because their food was exceptional, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend.

Armando's attracted with a pleasant Italian menu and walls festooned with publicity shots of ballet, symphony and opera stars. Few if any tourists other than ourselves. Service was fine and attentive, but food was ordinary. Judging from the local crowd, it probably is OK, but there are better in the neighborhood.

We came here for the highest recommendations of trip advisor. We had a carpaccio and was sub par, then a ravioli and the veal meat balls. Both were good but when I was about to finish the meatballs I found a hair on them. Actually thy ruined the food. Don't go, there are much better and clean restaurants in Florence.

Owner and the waiter were very nice and helpful in suggesting/recommending wine or specialties. Small restaurant but very nice and quiet. Food is amazing and made fresh after you order. I got pappardelle al cinghiale and was amazing, worth to try! Didn't have space for dessert but the list on the menu was tempting!

This was just around the corner from the apartment that we rented while in Florence. We came here on our last night. They do not open until 7:15 or 7:30pm so we were waiting when they opened. (Americans like to eat earlier and we had an early start the next morning.) I had vegetarian lasagna and it was delicious! It... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
