Stumbled across this restaurant before going to see the David and it was wonderful. Staff was so friendly and helpful. The food was so delicious...definitely not what you normally would get in a tourist spot. We had the tagliatelle al ragu with olives and sun dried tomatoes and the sausages with cannolini beans in tomato sauce. Both were perfecto!

Aloha Everyone! As part of a 10-day visit to Italy to meet my significant other (temporarily working on the other side of the world) for a mid-tour vacation, we visited Florence (Firenze) for a few days to do the museums and the Duomo (the normal touristy stuff). We stayed about 15 minutes away from the Cathedral at a small hotel... More

I had the pleasure today to visit this restaurant. We ordered toasted bread with tomatos and basil, a carbonara and a talliatelle ragù. Traditional Italian food and fine red wine! Nice to be there!

What a night... Me and my girlfriend were truly amazed by this place. First of all we were hosted by and an awsome waitress, who i guess is also the owner. She exactly guessed that we are brazilians with italian roots, and was very happy about it (on the contrary of most of the italians, who dont really enjoy the... More

Our first meal in Florence did not disappoint. Exquisite pastas and really wonderful meat dishes. Friendly owners and servers -- the kids even got cute magnets at the end of the lunch. Thank you Mangiafuoco for treating us to a wonderful christmas meal!

My husband, another couple and I were looking for a local place to have lunch. After seeing "David" we were wandering back to the Central Market only to stumble on this unassuming gem which had just opened and was filling up with locals. The food, atmosphere and staff were all amazing! It is worth the find. We will be back!

Our family of 5 have been coming to Mangiafuoco for many years and we are always treated like family. We have brought friends there, enjoyed special Christmas Eve and Christmas day dinners, have had casual lunches there and the food and service NEVER disappoint. Daniela and Barbara are always gracious and their wait staff attentive without being intrusive. And the... More

If you ever go to florence, you must try this restaurant since its very good, food is divine and the owners are very hospitable. We tried the bistecca florentina and it was really good since you can cook it yourself to your own likings. Desserts are a must and so are the first courses. The owners were very nice to... More

I will make this very simple. The food I ate here comprised the best meal I have ever had in my life. for <50 euros pp, my girlfriend and I ate a delicious 3 courses and had a bottle of lovely wine. The highlight was the Florentine steak which at 1.3kg was a beast. It was cooked to absolute perfection... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
