Try the sweet wine and cream flavour. The lady that served us was great and helpful. We've had three ice creams in two days this is the best so far. Enjoy.

Quaint and close to my hotel (Hotel Silla). I stopped in after a day of touring. The gelato hit the spot nicely. Give it a try. No disappointments and such a lovely lady who served me. Mille grazie!

We stopped in on our way to the piazza on the hill and we realized it was cash only and the woman kindly waited for us to return and assured us not to worry at all. She even gave my chocolate loving boyfriend an extra taste of the chocolate mousse she had prepared in the back. We would be happy... More

Possibly the best gelateria in town (believe me, have tried a few) - excellent variety of flavours, including several sorbets. Reasonably priced (unlike some places nearer the town centre), huge portions and truly friendly and welcoming staff who`d give you a taster of any flavour you might be interested in before you decide. Have walked across town twice on a... More

Il Gelato di Filo was recommended by one of our tour guides as one of the best in Florence. We stopped in for a lemon gelato and also tried the watermelon which was unique and so delicious. Then we headed up the hill to the Piazza Michelangelo. It was so good we had another after coming back down the hill!

This is a simple ice-cream store but the quality and variety of the different flavours is gerat. The store is at the bottom on the "Piazzale Michelangelo". Treat yourself to an ice-cream before a clime or after a successful return...or both.

Having tried many (most?) of the ice cream shops in Florence, including those such as Vivoli with a stellar reputation (very disappointing), this one beats them all. Il Gelato di Filo has a good choice of flavours which, unusually in Florence, includes liquorice, and the gelato itself ticks all the boxes for flavour, consistency, portion size and service. A little... More

Staying in Pitti

Neighbourhood Profile
Pitti is a neighborhood characterized by art and history. Renaissance architecture such as Pitti Palace, which houses five museums alone, introduces visitors to the green lungs of spectacular Boboli Gardens. Any visitor can wander through statues, fountains, and panoramic viewpoints. Around the garden, treasures like the Museum of Natural History of the Specola and Villa Bardini guide guests through Florence as the cradle of the Renaissance. End the day with an aperitif in Piazza della Passera or the more romantic Forte di Belvedere, which offers an amazing panoramic view of the entire city.
