We went on a quiet rainy October night . I think we may have been the only tourists in the place. The food was really good, tasty but homely too. Lots of strong flavours and very filling. Not the cheapest meal we've had during our stay but I guess you'd pay a bit more for the location. A really good... More

Ate here our last night in Florence. What a wonderful meal to finish our trip to Italy. Had the osso buco, and a glass of chianti.

Beside the Basilica Santa Croce, a block from the Piazza is a trattoria/osteria that serve local foods to local people. Bread soup, tripe, florentine steak. The owner will tell you what is good, help pick a local wine. Not the fanciest meal we ate in Firenze, but probably the best.

Next to the church of Santa Croce this is an old traditional trattoria. Excellent food, friendly service and food arrives within an acceptable limit. During lunch there are groups of tourists but for dinner things slow down

Il Francescano was recommended to us by our hotel. Just next to Basilica Croce they serve local Tuscany specialties at fair prices. Quality of food is outstanding as is service and atmosphere. You have to book in advance, this place is frequently booked out, lots of locals having lunch and dinner here. Portions are splendid and variety is certainly serving... More

We were given this restaurant as a recommendation of our Hotel (Plaza Hotel Luchessi). This restaurant was extremely wonderful! The atmosphere is very typical Italian, where the owner to the staff was friendly, polite and very proud of their cuisine. We were greeted by the owner and seated. We than were served by many people who took their time and... More

We were recommended this restaurant by our hotel as traditional Florentine food. It was nice, although the children struggled as the pasta and pizza options were not there for them. We had the steak and it was perfectly cooked in a lovely sauce. The staff were lovely and recommended a traditional starter that although not to everyone's taste was an... More

My husband and i stumbled upon this place by accident. The style is very cute with small chandeliers everywhere. Chianti bottle decorating the place. We ordered the pepper chicken and beef stew in wine sauce. Sooo good. This is the type of food you think of when you want to visit Italy. And the tiramisu!! I was in heaven! We... More
