We stumbled on this restaurant by accident, having taken a wrong turn - and were glad we did! Excellent food, relaxed service and very reasonable wine - what's not to like? We got one of their last tables for four inside (they were full outside) and they moved us to a smaller table (but more than enough space for two)... More

Very good food and friendly service in a restaurant filled with antique furniture - you sit on old church pews under old framed portraits and dine by candlelight. Try the smoked goose starter, then perhaps the pesto gnocchi and/or the duck; superb desserts too, some vary from night to night (we can recommend the panacotta and creme brûlée. Reserve for... We went recommended by our Italian host during our stay and we really enjoyed it. Good service, special food with a very reasonable price. The panacota was delicious!

One restaurant that was recommended to us by Bruno and Badia Fiorentina B and B was Birreria Centale. We stopped in but found that we needed reservations to eat so we made then for the following night. The place opens at 7:30 and we were there. By the time we left at 9:00 the place was close to filled up.... More

Visited on trip advisor recommendation and was not dissapointed. We had an enormous carpaccio apperativo to start even sharing was generous! The mains were equally good and the house wine was excellent. The restaurant is lovely inside with a nice atmosphere and attentive, knowledgeable service.

This place is on a quiet corner not so easy to find but don't give up, the food is amazing. Went there for dinner after running around trying to find a good place. Birreria was quite busy and we had to share a table with 2 strangers which wasn't a problem for us. We've ordered big cold meat platter which... More

The pear and gorgonzola gnocchi was excellent - highly recommend. We also really enjoyed the truffle scamorza, but it was a little difficult to cut and share.

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
