The food was good. I had the caprese and the paccheri(?) which were nice. My dining companion had bruschetta (just OK) and the swordfish (delicious). The restaurant is in a quiet part of the island, so dining out front in the alley was fine from...a social distancing perspective (unlike, say, restaurants on the very narrow and busy Via Cavour). The only issue was the sheer number of flies around - because of which we would not return.More
We went for a lunch during our one-day trip to Syracuse. Resturant has seating both inside and outside. I had a chicken salad and my girlfriend ordered a pizza. The salat was very ordinary, and was lacking taste. Maybe not the best pick in a...Sicilian resturant. Pizza was fine. Service was ok.More
This is the BEST Restaurant I have come across in all of Sicily. The food, the people, the wine - Oh my God, so good! I bought one wine bottle at the place (very reasonably priced for the quality) and they are so sweet that...on the purchase of the second one, they gave me a bottle opener and a limoncello for free because they wanted me to have fun. I would recommend this place to anyone for amazing music , delicious food and outstanding hospitality ❤️More
Went here on 19tj. Very nice seafood caponata. Very well presented lobster spaghetti. Very passable pollo Milanese. Not outrageous in terms of price. Shouted us back and gave us a little bottle of limoncello when they realised we’d left without getting one. So why the...“but” and the three rating? If you’re going to serve something 50% more expensive than anything else on the menu, either prep it properly so that people can eat it, or give them the tools for the job. Serving lobster with the meat still in uncracked claws, with no lobster fork and one paper napkin isn’t doing it. Nor is offering a sealed wipe for during the process (when you’re picking at stuff with your fingers and so don’t want them to taste of a lemony chemical). Restaurant - pick the claw meat out of the claws. Invest in a few lobster forks. That apart, set in a very picturesque little street, nice lights, nice ambience.More
We found the Restaurant by walking Oritigias nummerous streets in the evenning. The place had lovely colorful lighting over the narrow cobble stone streets and looked cozy and authentic. The owner itsself greeted us and recommend wines according to our taste and desire to try...sicilian ones. We had a seafood pasta and swordfish in a sauce of tomatoes, olives and capers. Both tasted great. Overall it was a great location, hospitable service and delicious food. Perfetto!More
We walked past this restaurant on our first evening in Syracuse, whilst exploring Ortigia. I loved the shade sails and pretty lights, and the slightly quieter side road also appealed. We had the most delicious and fresh food here. My husband was astounded at the...size of the tuna tartare served as a starter but as I'd 'only' ordered bruschetta I was able to share his and it was the freshest dish I've ever tasted. The next day I saw a fish shop where tuna was being prepared so clearly it's one of the many local fish caught hereabouts. I had opted for tuna steak for my dinner, and it was barely seared before being served, which is exactly as it should be, and was accompanied by a lovely peppery sauce and an onion pickle type dressing which set it off beautifully. Our desserts were also good, I had a lemon sorbet while my husband opted for a pistachio semi freddo which was very creamy. Wines were incredibly good prices. Our Feudo Arancio nero d'avola red wine was only 18 euros, which for a restaurant price I thought very good value as it was delicious I look forward to another visit during our stay. We arrived early to get a table for two, although they set out a couple more on the other side later on as it's a popular place. (It had been raining earlier in the day, this restaurant is fairly near the Arethusa spring and the mozzies were out and feasted on me while I ate my feast so just be aware. It's no reflection on the restaurant, just a cautionary aside.)More
My sister and I came to Ortigia for just one evening. Being August it was difficult to find a table, but with some luck managed to find at the last second two seats. We were greeted by the very welcoming Giuseppe, who not only made...sure that guests were at ease but also made some of the very good dishes served here, including the "Caponata". If you do decide to try some authentic Sicilian dishes we would advise to try especially this one.More
This is really the best restaurante in my whole live. They are set at a great vibe at Ortigia and you can eat for a good price. I specially like the seafood here.
Sadly this was our worst dinner in Ortigia. The atmosphere looked so nice so we wanted to try it. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful and hard working. But our food was not good at all. It seemed as though it had been cooked...earlier and microwaved to heat it up right after we ordered it. An annoying doorbell sound went off throughout our dinner. We don’t know if something was off that night as there are many other good reviews but we did not have a good experience.More
Exploring Ortigia on a Sunday afternoon we selected this restaurant. The food was fresh and tasty, we took a lunch special consisting of 7 starters and 2 pasta meals. Beside octopus salad fried small shrimps were excellent. Their pasta vongole with pistachio was simply from...another planet. Friendly staff, good food and decent pricing rounded up an overall tasty experience.More
