We dined at 4 different restaurants in Syracuse and this was the best. For a main course my wife had "Salmon Hamburger" (!) - in fact faked fresh salmon mixed with chopped asparagus and I had calamari with ginger in sua tinta. Both dishes were delicious and the desserts were good too - cassata siciliana and pitacchio parfait.

Traditional but with a (big genius) twist. We tried parmigiana pesce spada e melanzane, gnocchi crema formaggio e pistacchio, gamberoni alla bandiera, mousse ricotta e fichi, pere vin brûlé , everything was really good!! (And 1/2 of the couple is from Syracuse :))

Our superb guide took us to this wonderful restaurant several days ago on a visit to Syracuse. Actually, it is situated in the old walled city of Ortigia, connected to Syracuse by a small bridge. The setting is in an old (more than 100 years) building, with high arches of old stone. There were about 8-9 tables. Of course, the... More

This quaint little restaurant is situated in an alley way type place but it is a must-experience. I had the filet and mussels. The filet was one of the best and the mussels were phenomenal as well. The waitstaff was very attentive. It is a neat little place to visit if you every get the chance to go there. Compliments... More

The Ristorante Porta Marina is set in a lovely old building in a little side street of Ortigia. There is a vaulted stone ceiling which is beautiful to behold. Being there in the winter, we were the only customers. While not a problem for us, I wonder if it could be noisy if crowded, given all the hard surfaces. The... More

When you go back the next night to try things on the menu that you saw but couldn't get to, you know it's good and special. When that repeat visit is despite the numerous other stunning restaurants in Ortigia, you know it's amazing. This place just gets everything right.

We were a party of four who followed a tip from the owner of a wine bar and ended up at this restaurant. Overall a very pleasant experience with really good and varied dishes. Best this week, so far!

I had the Entrecôte alla Siracusa (veal in tomato and garlic sauce) and it was DELICIOUS. Highly recommend.

We celebrated my husbands mothers 60th birthday in Porta Marina with great success. The service was really good, atmosphere pleasant and the restaurants decoration simple but beautiful. And the food was excellent! A restaurant worth to visit if in Siracusa.

The title of this review says it all. This was the best dining experience we had during our 4 day idyll in Syracusa.
