Finding a proper place to eat a typical dish of a certain locality is really a challenge. There are so many places to eat in Italy and most of them will never let you down. However, after several travels around this country, you get the feeling that you are totally missing out on traditional and regional cuisines if you keep... More

Don't bother. I don't like to give negative reviews but...it was the one of the worst meals I have ever had in Italy. The principal ingredient was horse meat which I don't care for, the pasta was over-cooked, menu options were limited. We did have a good bottle of wine! There are so many good restaurants in Verona, we were... More

We were a group of 22 people, college students and adults. My husband teaches for Colby College in Verona every January, and Al Duca is where we have our welcome dinner. This is a COZY place where you feel you could sit forever soaking in the ambiance. The food is great, simple classic dishes, including horse and donkey meat, if... More

I have been to Verona many times and once that I heard that I have managed thus far, to miss the oldest eatery in Verona, I thought we had to go. Our first impression was good as it was packed and all Venetians, but simply put... the staff aeemed stressed and uninterested and the food was 'average' and below what... More

The good stuff - it's in a nice quiet location and has a warm & welcoming atmosphere. We may have been unlucky, but were both disappointed by the food. We had similar dishes in Verona - pasta / aubergine / polenta - ranging from delicious to spectacular - but on this occasion both our main courses were left half-eaten &... More

We had an excellent lunch here, all other diners appeared to be locals. We both had Penne Romeo for first course, and Bob had veal with funghi for second, while I had a lovely salad with lots of fresh vegetables and mozzarella chase. Wine by the glass was good tho a nice assortment of bottles available as well.

We walked by this small restaurant on the way to see Romeo's house, and were coaxed in by the delicious smells coming out of the kitchen. We sampled the bigoli (big spaghetti) with white amatriciana sauce (I didn't know there was such a thing!) and another bigoli with a type of donkey meat ragu! They were both so delicious, so... Whilst on the sight seeing trail in Verona was drawn into the restaurant close to Romeos house by it being busy with a discount offer for two courses at €18 What a mistake. Food basic and average but service atrocious. Don't think staff have heard of customer service. Basically had the bread rolls thrown at table. The restaurant has one... More

We visited this restaurant after receiving a recommendation from our host. The restaurant offers an 18 euro two course meal and caters for tourists well through including menus in English, French, German and Spanish alongside the obvious Italian. Water and bread were provided on arrival although they then charge for the water at the end! However, whilst we were impressed... More

After a long hot walk around Verona, we came across this little Osteria near Casa di Guiletta. At €18 for a 2 course meal it was very good value. We had a nice pasta start followed by a lovely beef carpacio.
