Simple but very tasty food cooked according to the slowfood concept. Unbeatable freshness of the seafood along with the exceptional service and probably the best night view of the town.

The food was well prepared and the view was wonderful. My wife & I both had the fish of the day. While I can't recall the exact price, it didn't seem overly expensive.

We have been meaning to visit here for a couple of years now and took the opportunity on our Anniversary trip to Venice. It was a strange experience with the restaurant feeling like it lacked atmosphere. The staff were fine but our real issue was with the food. We started with the steak tartare which was presented well but tasted... More

This family restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere and an ideal location to enjoy the most iconic attractions of the lagoon in front of a very delicious meal. This is a “Slow Food Chef Alliance” Restaurant with nice and rich menus, based on use of genuine and traditional ingredients that support local suppliers. A massive thank you to Benedetta, she was... I am not much of a pasta eater, till I was in Italy, ate the real thing. Italians have a way of making simple foods like pizza and pasta taste incredible, different... FRESH!

A very good and varied menu at this restaurant - the shell and fish dishes are quite superb and was definitely a highlight for us. Service from the waiters is excellent. Wine list compliments everything and our waiters suggestion was very good indeed. I would certainly recommend this restaurant - has a good outlook onto the waterfront of San Marco.

We asked the dish without any kind of cheese, and the waiter said ok, but it arrived with cheese and waiter do nothing about that. We lose the dish and had to ask for another one. Waiter very unpolited.

We ordered grilled fish, I think flounder. We received a small piece with very salty sauce. They forgot to bring the appetiser, and then to compensate offered artichoke which was tasteless. Overall was a disappointment.

Came to this restaurant as it was featured in Michelin guide. Unfortunately it is the first time that we came out of via Michelin restaurant unsatisfied. We tried the swordfish parmigano and risotto with frutti di mare. Afraid to say that both dishes were pretty average. Don't get me wrong, the quality of ingredients was great but the taste just... Description
In the beautiful surroundings of restaurant Wildner's veranda you can enjoy some of the best traditional food in Venice, whilst being inebriated by the view of the lagoon.

Restaurant Wildner was established in 1960 by the Fullin Family and it is visited by locals and tourists alike. Its comfortable and unhurried atmosphere is enhanced by the spectacular panoramic view of St Mark's Basin.

Each day Luca Fullin selects the very best seasonal ingredients from Rialto market and from the network of suppliers we have spent a lifetime gathering. The ingredients are then prepared and cooked with care and simplicity, in order to make them shine thorugh a menu of traditional Venetian dishes.

The menu is based mainly on fish and features classics like Baccala Mantecato, Sarde in Saor and Antipasto Misto, as well as a seasonal selection of dishes. The wines are all handpicked by Luca, who personally visits the vineyards to select the best natural wines, produced in small quantities and without the use of any artificial additives or chemicals.

The restaurant is open all day, and is the perfect place to enjoy a truly Venetian dining experience, with the gondolas and the Island of San Giorgio as the most beautiful backdrop to a romantic dinner or a special occasion.

Wildner is in the "Slow Food Chef Alliance". By using Slow Food Presidia in the menus, they support small scale local producers who use traditional methods and safeguard native breeds and local plant varieties.

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
