We had dinner 2 nights in a row at this restaurant. Thanks to The Fork's 20% "late dinner" discount, we spent around 115 euros for two per evening. The prices are not very low, but for the quality of these dishes we were happy to spend them. The service is excellent, the guys in the room are really professional and take care of their customers... we even asked to be moved to the sofas and we were satisfied after a short while. The food is excellent: the bread, the linguine, but also everything else satisfied our palate.

We took the menu with the “historical” recipes and enjoyed all our dishes: beautiful presentation, good ingredients and subtly spicy! The servers make the effort to speak French and carefully describe each dish. The food and wine pairing allows for some great discoveries, the sommelier is keen to make people appreciate the wines of the region. We feasted ! The price (150€ per person with wines) is justified by the quality and originality. A very nice experience!

A classy restaurant with a classic Venetian interior. The prices are high, but you get perfectly balanced dishes, some of which are based on historical Venetian recipes and made with the finest ingredients. Simply exceptional! The service is very attentive, the explanations of the ingredients and the wine advice are excellent. If you speak a little Italian, the evening becomes even more welcoming. If you want to spend a special culinary evening far away from the usual "mass offerings" in Venice, this is the place for you!!!

For our wedding anniversary, we chose Bistrot de Venise, nestled in a charming alleyway off the beaten track. The drink and wine selections were delightful, setting high expectations for the evening. Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to its fine dining promise. Despite the elegant presentation, the food took over 45 minutes to arrive and was cold when it finally did. The service was merely adequate, lacking the attentiveness one expects from a high-end establishment. The menu, predominantly seafood-based, offered only two vegetarian options, which felt limiting. At ÂŁ300 for the meal, the price felt exorbitant given the overall experience. In summary, while Bistrot de Venise has a lovely setting and an impressive drink selection, the food and service fell short, making it difficult to recommend for special occasions.

This place, like many in Venice, is quite simply an overrated tourist trap. Ambiance is fine, quite lovely and intimate in fact. However, the food ranged from barely okay to good. There’s a heavy reliance on fried onions, which turned up in several dishes. Labelled as caramelized, they were rather very lightly sautéed and still had too much body and a raw flavour. They were present in the traditional dish of shrimp in saor, a supposedly sweet and sour Venetian recipe. My shrimp weren’t properly cooked, but rather barely warmed through and completely raw in the centre and had none of either sweet or sour flavours that should balance the dish. Heaps more onion appeared on my partner’s liver dish, which was much more like your grandma’s version and not the way we’ve had before, slightly crisp with a good dose of wine snd a touch of sugar to balance the acid. Greyish slices of liver were plunked atop a crusted-over an overly-salted plop of polenta. Scallops were quite good, and lamb well-cooked but served with a tasteless “ carpaccio” of pumpkin, basically just thin slices of raw squash. They were served with the top bone in place, making it impossible to extract the meat from the tiny chops. Our waiter started out being attentive, but we noticed service slipped to the point we changed our minds about ordering dessert. We had to pour our own water from the very heavy bottle. The delightful busboy did most of the waiter’s work. Frankly we were insulted when our server basically intimidated us into tipping beyond the 10% stated on the menu, so we gave him another 10% for his “service”. We would not dine here again, nor would we recommend the place.

I have been to this restaurant several times in the past, finding it quite good.... now I wonder if it was a coincidence, given the disaster of today's evening. I arrive and discover that the table assigned to me is positioned outside.....it's April even though today it was very sunny! I wonder... can you force us to stay outside? On past occasions there weren't any tables outside, ergo.....you have to point it out that you're putting me out. Only following a harsh recrimination, with the threat of leaving, did I get to be placed inside. I order a shrimp in saor and a linguine with scampi according to an ancient Venetian recipe. The dishes are both quite expensive, but I knew this, knowing the bistro. If I eat well I have no problem paying. Quality comes at a price...everywhere and even more so in Venice. I receive a prawn with little flavor, not very clean and with Chinese pine nuts... super cheap compared to the classic ones, which are used in a cuisine worthy of the name. And that's fine.....I'll leave it alone! But then I get the pasta. ...saying it's overcooked doesn't make me feel disgusted when I eat it. Absolute rubbish, at times nauseating if you add that you could feel the crunch typical of dirty crustaceans under your teeth. Evidently the scampi had not been cleaned at all or adequately. I leave the pasta, because it's really inedible. I pointed this out to the waiter, who continued to pass by, looking at the plate and remaining silent. Following my complaint, heated but legitimate because it concerns errors, so to speak, unforgivable for a certain type of restaurant, the maitre d' arrives. Surprise of surprises, instead of apologizing for ruining my evening he scolds me because "my young colleague was about to cry". Ridiculous and incompetent.....they took about 30 euros for pasta off my bill, but I don't care. I would have preferred them to apologize for the infinite level of the evening they made me spend and pay for the pasta, than to receive the discount from those who, with the arrogance of those who make a living from foreign tourists to whom you can serve up anything that is always " very good", he claimed to be right until the end. I'm sorry but I will never go back and I say more....I think they don't mind, because I think they prefer foreign tourists who are not accustomed to eating well and who, probably, will never come back again, to the more critical Italians and who, above all, if you fool them once they never come back and they give you a lot of negative publicity.

A very nice place. Some Baroque-inspired ambience, waiter in classic black suit. Everything very well maintained, attentive. The kitchen: We ordered the Venetian menu, four courses plus a greeting from the kitchen in the form of a broth with cabbage and sausage strips. Like grandma. That means something. The fear of getting out hungry after the four courses was unfounded. Magnificent food based on ancient Venetian recipes were served to us. Nice also the wine recommendations of the sommelier, who liked to tell a bit debauched about the, notabene very good wines. The food was in danger of getting cold. Hence also "only" 4 stars., also because the Chef de Service - presumably at the same time owner of the restaurant - showed a somewhat put-on friendliness. But overall a highly recommended place if you are willing to spend for 2 people around 400€

We have eaten here on previous visits to Venice and delighted to find it has maintained its very high standards. The welcome is warm and gracious. There are a number of small dining rooms so it feels quite "intimate". There were just 5 tables in the room we were in. Service is friendly, professional and very efficient. Sometimes in restaurants at this level there is an air of pretentiousness. Not a hint of that here. It is very relaxed but with a slight air of formality. The menu has good choices and the food is delicious. Best scallops we've had for a long time. Duck and lamb cooked perfectly and presentation is just right. Tarte Tartin was excellent. The wine list is extensive - from reasonable to eye watering - with also a good selection by the glass. We had a glass of white with our starter and a bottle of red with mains. It is on the expensive side but the best dinner we had in a week in Venice and amongst the best we've had in the last 12 months. We will definitely eat here again on our next visit to Venice. Highly recommended.

Very pleasant surprise, upon arrival at the restaurant, we sat on the terrace (smokers required) for an aperitif served with cordiality. Then we entered the bistro made up of several warm rooms and decorated in a romantic way without bling bling, very cocooning. The dishes followed one another very refined for the 6 guests that we were and according to the advice (in French) detailed and very appropriate. The bill is very reasonable for the meal, aperitif and drinks. The icing on the cake: 20% off the bill after 9:30 p.m.!!!! We will definitely return.

It is a very elegant restaurant, dear I think it has a Michelin star. Pacts are taken from the Venetian cuisine of ancient times and cooked in the way of our times. I had Tagliolini with white truffle, tuna veal and a Tarte tartin. They do not spare to use butter for me a little heavy. I drank a Prosecco and a glass of Amarone water and coffee. The very attentive staff explain everything how to match the wine to the dish and much more.

We were seated outside, as requested but our time there was spoiled by the typical noisy American brat shouting off, not the restaurants fault. We tried the Historic Tasting menu which looked interesting but the promised eel with a crispy skin turned out to be soggy eel, very disappointing. We were not impressed with the sommelier, as we discussed at length how we wanted a low abv red only for him to suggest x wine at 12.5%. Ages later, and only after I reminded the waiter of our lack of wine, the bottle arrived with an abv of 14.5%! Sent back and replaced with something more drinkable. He did eventually come over to apologise for his error. Overall, we were disappointed with this restaurant as the food remained bland, never mind the soggy eel. It was difficult to get hold of staff throughout. Oh, the other thing was the terrible music which incorporated every cliché of awful musak.

It's like the concept of customer loyalty... in Venice it doesn't apply, it mainly applies to the inxxlation of the tourist... because, especially if they're foreigners from afar, it's difficult for them to return. I had been convinced for over 10 years that this statement did not apply to the bistrot de Venise, which I met 16 years ago on the occasion of my 40th birthday and have never forgotten every time that, in the last seven appearances in Venice, I have been their customer. This evening I unfortunately have to change my mind. Firstly, one of the owners wanted us to eat outdoors when no one at the time of booking let us choose the table or at least whether to eat outdoors or not. In early April it is unusual to say the least. Only under threat of leaving the table were we moved inside. After we sat down I had the feeling, but obviously it remains so, of being less welcome than the other guests. The chef de rang was even servile to the diners at the nearby tables, to us, hasty, sufficient, essential. Let's leave aside the sand in the prawns and the Chinese pine nuts (in a 28 euro dish) and get to the tasteless and overcooked pasta that my wife got. We acknowledge that the dish was deducted from the bill, but perhaps the sentence at the beginning of the review is unfortunately true. The foreign tourist eats, doesn't understand, and pays like no one else. We Italians are all gourmets. From now on I will leave the bistro cuisine to foreigners. I will go to other beaches to look for real Venetian cuisine.

I am still speechless after dining at Bistrot de Venice. We’ve visited several Michelin Star restaurants, but this one stands out far above the rest. We had the pleasure of celebrating our engagement dinner here, and it was the most perfect choice, thanks to the recommendation from our hotel, H10 Palazzo Canova. Chef Stefano Novello and his incredible team exceeded every expectation! We opted for the Bistrot Tasting Experience on the suggestion of our wonderful server, David, who was not only friendly but incredibly knowledgeable. His passion for the food and service made the evening even more special. We also chose to do the wine pairing for each course, and Nicola expertly paired every glass to absolute perfection, enhancing the flavor of each dish. The dishes themselves? ART ON A PLATE. Each plate was a work of art, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavors that still linger in my mind. Chef Stefano’s talent and creativity truly shine through in every bite. I'm still mind blown. If you are in Venice and have the opportunity to dine here, do not miss it. This is a must-visit restaurant, and it will undoubtedly become the highlight of your trip. Bravo to Chef Stefano and his entire team for creating an unforgettable dining experience!

The perfect meal. I feel very blessed that we were able to walk in and have lunch at Bistrot de Venice. Our family of 6 each ordered different dishes and we were all very happy with our food. The waiter also helped us pair an excellent wine with our dishes. We were traveling in Europe for 10 days and this was one of my favorite meals.

My husband and I visited this restaurant on the 6th of May 2023. We had a reservation at 21:30. They gave us our table at 21:40, which is okay. The sommelier was really nice. We ordered 3 bottles of wine. Red for my husband and two bottle of white for me. The first bottle I chose myself and I didn’t like it, so the second one I ordered with the help of sommelier. I took two different dishes from the menu, quite fine, I would even say tasty. My husband took degustation menu. All the dishes were tasteless, I also tried them from his plate and we both think that even my dishes were much better and that it is not degustation menu level. But it was not the worst part. As we were almost the last to sit, when we finished eating, almost everyone had already left. But we were hungry and wanted to order one more dish each. But it was impossible to stop a waiter to take our order as they started to prepare all the tables for the next day right in front of us paying no attention to their guests (us). Finally we managed to make our order and while we were eating one of the waiters began to throw cutlery on the tables making terrible noise. We had some more wine left and both my husband and I had to pour it into our glasses several times ourselves. When I was pouring the rest of wine into my glass, one waiter came and tried to show some kind of service. Final bill was 508€ which is awful price/quality ratio. Although it was 200€ for the good wine, the rest 300€ is more than overpriced. They also include 10% coperto (which probably meant to be service charge, as it is per center, not fixed) into the bill, which is too much for no service at all. I am not surprised that the restaurant still can’t get a Michelin star. I am wondering why it’s still in Michelin guide.

San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
