Visited this 'place' as it was local. Something I can confidently profess to be the worst dining out experience of our lives ever! From the outset we stressed that we wanted chips/potatoes WITH our pizza, not as a starter - something Italians seem to fail to comprehend. As expected they arrived early as a starter, we reiterated our point and... More

Atendimento antipático. Cobram serviço, dois euros por pessoa. Staff not nice. You pay the service, two euros per person, and they don't even smirk. Food eatable.

We have been 3 days in Venice and the one of the few places that have a gluten free menu. They offer gluten free beer, gluten free pasta and gluten free pizza. The gluten free pizza was great and was certified approved for celiacs, the best I have eaten since I found out my gluten intolerance 1 year ago. Very... More

Pizza to go. Beer while waiting. Simple. Friendly service. See chef at work. Cash or credit. Tough to argue with the concept.

It is fairly difficult to find a good Gluten Free pizza in Venice compared to other parts of Italy! We were quite impressed with the pizzas at Ae Oche! Also this area of Venice is quite a bit quieter than the touristy busy bits!

We have never had a restaurant experience this bad. The "service" was me trying to draw attention to the flegmatic waitress. In addition to the coperto fee (4€) the waitress gave us change 5 euros less than she should have. For starters we got overly salted bread which was dry and cold. On the plate where we were suppose to... More

We found this place on out last visit in 2009, its very much off the beaten track so frequented by quite a few locals and popular with families. The pizzas were very nice, typically Italian and we once again had a great lunch

We turned up last minute on New Year's Eve looking for gluten free pizza for two, and were not disappointed. They were so accommodating and the pizza was great. Inside decor and atmosphere is trendy and fun. Great choice of music too.

My wife loves this Pizza, nice quiet place. And it was quick. Place looks clean. I was there twice and still it was quick and clean.

Ideal if you are staying locally but not worth detour, based on my two visits. GF pizza was fine, service friendly but erratic. Once served, you're on your own! But no problem going to the bar and asking, but 12% is added anyway. Maybe a bit over critical, it is a relaxed place.

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
