Our first morning in Venice and a visit to the Accademia Gallery for a dose of late Renaissance with Veronese. Lunchtime beckoning, we walked without any firm ideas back towards San Marco. There, beside a smalll canal and a gondola stop Ristorante Cantinone Storico glistened. We decided to eat outside and were sat next to a Brit fluent in Italian... More
We ate here at the recommendation of our hotel, and we had travelled for 20 hours and wanted something close. Excellent food, service, and ambiance.
We stumbled across this beautiful little restaurant completely by accident. Staff were friendly and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. The food was absolutely divine. The gnocchi tasted like happiness itself! Beautiful Italian comfort food right there. The steak was cooked to perfection and just melted in the mouth. Couldn't recommend highly enough.
Soup was very hot and delicious especially the vegetable which on a cool evening was very welcome. I chose liver and onions one night, veal another and chicken on the last night. All were very well cooked, the waiters especially the young man of 21 were attentive and helpful. They didn't mind us advising them on how to make tea... More
I went here twice during my four night stay in Venice. The first time because it was conveniently close to my hotel, then again the evening before my departure as a result of the good experience of the previous occasion. The restaurant is pleasantly though maybe slightly plainly decorated, the staff are pleasant and attentive without being intrusive. On arrival... More

We had lunch here in 2015 and enjoyed the place very much. Returned this February (2017) and had again a very positive experience. Very good Italian food. No shi-shi, just great food to enjoy. Very well orchestrated - please try the mixed appetizer plate - and very good pasta. Also the house prosecco and the house wine are very good.... More
We've just spent 2 days in Venice (in February... pre-valentines, pre Summer crush). Restaurant Cantinone Storico was good and I'd recommend. It was quiet but the staff were attentive, the food was good quality and (maybe with the exception of the specials) value for money and the wine was also reasonably priced for it's quality. Most of all, I'd recommend... More
