Review qualifications are determined as much by the company, mood, weather and alcohol as the food and this establishment is certainly above average - the wine remarkably reasonable and the pasta delicious. Moreover, the staff are genuinely friendly. So whilst not meriting "best", it's one of those places where we came away saying "we really enjoyed that" a sentiment we had... More

Food was very good and the staff were friendly. Menu warned that food may not come out as fast as you may expect (slow and steady the Venetian way) but we found food came out faster than most places we've eaten. All good quality, the tiramisu was especially good!

A great little trattoria on the waterfront overlooking the Giudecca Canal. You can sit outside as we did, or inside. The tables outside are right by the water's edge and there are no railings - great for adults with an uninterrupted view of all the boat goings on while the waiter goes about his business right on the edge of... This restaurant offers a great variety of food including some traditional Venetian recipes or dishes from the region. All the ingredients are very fresh and the dishes are nicely decorated. Everything tastes very good! The staff offers very efficient service and they would do anything to give your a great experience eating here. A must try if you are nearby.

We have been out for a walk and just spotted the place and decided to have some wine there ... and then waiter started shouting on us that it is not a bar !!!! We were shocked! Instead of explaining us he was verbally aggressive... then we wanted to speak with him just to clarify the situation and he kept... More

We went to Trattoria ai Cacciatori on spec for dinner on arrival in Giudecca, where we were staying for ten days. They greeted us warmly, even though we had no reservation, and said a table would come free in ten minutes, so we waited. The atmosphere was nice, the food looked good, and most of the conversations seemed to be... More

Lovely food, good service, quiet place ( not as crowded as the San Marco place) at the water. We had a good lunch: starter, main and dessert. If I visit Venice again I would go back there.

We had dinner at this Trattoria on a Sunday evening, and the place was full so it was good to have made reservations. The inside diners were mostly speaking Venetian dialect, which I thought was very encouraging. The outdoor patrons, braving a cool evening to get the magnificent view across the Giudecca canal, were mostly visitors. (While I speak standard... More

Staying in Giudecca

Neighbourhood Profile
Giudecca
Giudecca is a retreat for Venetians away from the crowds. Symbolically, six metal teeth represent Venice’s six sestieri (districts); the seventh, Guidecca, points away from the others – part of Dorsoduro, but separated by the Giudecca Canal. Giudecca evolved from a center of shipyards and factories to a quiet residential area with a sprinkling of restaurants and bars. The majestic harmonious Redentore church stands as thanks for delivering Venice from the plague, hosting an annual heartfelt festival.
