We had a couple of great nights here, the first only for a few drinks and the second for dinner. The place was heaving both nights. You need to make a reservation. They have a menu as well as a selection of cicchetti available. The customers appeared to be mostly locals or in the case of the people we ended... More

This place is buzzing, lots of locals enjoying themselves creating a lovely ambience. Not cheap, but excellent pasta & good house wine. My Seafood Pasta was wonderful & my wife`s Macaroni Cheese so tasty, finished off in a massive Parmesan! Fun!

We found Paradiso Perduto to be the most truly Italian restaurant amongst those we visited. The food is delicious, traditional, and the ingredients fresh. You will not find the classic touristic dishes that most of the other restaurants offer, but if you are looking for fresh well prepared fish the this is a go go! We liked it so much... More

If you go to the bathroom (which was horrible) passed the kitchen. Waiters bored, came from the kitchen eating and taking order from customers outfit their unkempt hair in women disaster. A girl made lasagne, the restaurant at a table with shaggy hair. Hygiene conditions under criticism at this restaurant.Bad house wine. Paradoxically, pasta with seafood, was good.

We found a table for just 1hr in a crowded Sat night, where all the seats were reserved in double shift.. we found out very soon why this place is so busy: great selection of dishes, good wine, and canapes to die for.

We came here for my mums 50th birthday hoping to eat with the locals and have some amazing food. we couldn't have got it more wrong firstly the menu is all in Italian as expected but the rude waiter didn't want to help at all making sarcastic comments about us being in italy. We... More

We were recommended this restaurant by a friend and was not let down. The food was amazing, challenging to decide what to have as we don't speak Italian. Waiter wasn't the most friendliest but we were not going to let that spoil it. Had the most amazing fish. The decor and setting is very quirky and the staff too. Very... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
