We sought out this quiet Osteria on our second visit to Venice. We had lunch here two years ago, but neglected to leave a positive review. So here we are again, dining on squid ink (Black) pasta with prawns, cherry tomatoes and saffron sauce, and...More

This place was a welcome relief from the madness of the Venice streets. The pasta was amazing and the staff were nice and helpful. Most of all there.was a nice relaxing atmosphere.

My wife and I had reserved a table for dinner 5 days in advance online. We got there at 7.30 on the dot. We hung around for 5 minutes before being shown to a table beside the loo. We objected and sat at the next...More

We had a delicious dinner of fresh sea bass at Osteria al Cantinon in the Cannaregio section of Venice, on a side canal near the church of Santa Maria Maddalena. The food was the highlight of our meal but service was good as well. We...More

Worst atención ever, we arrived with the family for dinner and the answer of a waiter screaming was....... “ we have no table for you not now not later.......” the worst attention ever...... I do not recommend it, I will never visit them again....! They...More

The place has wonderful venetian atmosphere, tucked cozily away from the hoards of tourists. The black spaghetti are a must have. The only down side for us was the service which was painfully slow at all stages.

What a lovely authentic venue serving fantastic food! Pasta nero stole my heart, have never eaten such a tasty squid pasta before. Place does not seems to be fancy, but food clearly worth trying! We have spent wonderful time here (twice!)

This is the sort of place that Tripadvisor was designed for. Tucked away and unassuming from the outside. You would be very unlikely to stumble across it. So good we ate there two nights running just to sample more of the menu. The Pasta is...More

Tired after a whole day of travel, we had our first Venetian dinner at Osteria al Cantinon. We shared a starter of 4 nice plump grilled scallops, then along came a lovely nero spaghetti with prawns and a delicious mixed salad. The waiter who took...More

We saw this restaurant on our gondola ride and decided to have our last night's dinner here. Our gondolier assured us that the food was amazing here. He was right! It's a little off the beaten path, but absolutely worth the visit.

Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district)
with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many
transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying
areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand
for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal
bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution,
2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli
Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby

Turn left when you're just out of the train station. Take the main road (lista di spagna - strada nova) and keep going for around 12 minutes. Turn right just before the third bridge you encounter. That's campo della maddalena
