Since this restaurant is in a main square, there are lots of outdoor tables and very crowded. The service was pretty slow and not the most attentive. The food was just average. We had grilled vegetables and spaghetti with clam sauce. The wine was just okay also. With so many other restaurants in Venice, I would have expected it to... More

Should have listened to some of the other reviews on here! Staff were rude, food was ok but nothing special what you would expect from a Italian. Asked for some bread which came from a big brown paper bag. Extra 1.50 for bitter which never came. To our surprise the bread which wasn't eaten from other tables was re used.... More

Visited the Jewish Ghetto in the morning and wanted to have lunch closer to our apartment so picked Ristorante Pedrocchi on the main street. We were in the mood for beer, so I had the usual medium(6E), but Hubby decided to order a large beer. He received a HUGE beer(12E). Had to be near to a liter. The food wasn't... More

Our group had seen Ristorante Pedrocchi as we walked from our hotel to Piazza San Marco, so after a long day we decided to try it out since it was close to our hotel. We weren't disappointed. We started with Insalata Mista which were really big. These are not a small dinner salad but instead could easily feed 2 or... More

My first visit to this restaurant was back in 2013. I just went there again and had the same pasta dish and it tasted just as good as the first time. Highly recommend sitting outdoors for dinner, it is a wonderful ambience. Didn't like the wine that the server sold to us, I would be a bit more careful next... More

First we wanted to go to Pontini - we had a reservation but no table! So we got the second time here. We had nero risotto marinara, salad ... A classical dinner. Very kind staff.

Although we found this restaurant to be a bit on the pricey side we chose it for its location in the beautiful Venice sunshine. Very busy so service was hit and miss but we didn't mind as we were just relaxing in the afternoon sunshine. We both opted for the lasagne and a plate of chips but there was bread... More

By the other reviews it appears hit and miss with this place but my wife and I both had the worst meals that any restaurant has attempted to plate in front of us, in or out of Italy. Every other meal we had on our vacation was very good to stellar. The restaurant is in a high traffic area so... More

While this place is more expensive than others along the canal I have to say I'm really happy with the choice we made. The service was second to none with the staff being polite and really attentive the food was delicious I had the lamb chops. Really would recommend it right beside the Rialto bridge offers some amazing views worth... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
