Pretty restaurant, a little different than the rest. Good food and wine. Location is right be the water. Only weird part is they were playing American pop music which took away from the ambiance.

On our first night in Venice we had a dinner with our tour group. We had a vegetable lasagna & spinach ravioli to start. I could have eaten a whole plate of the vegetable lasagna it was so good. Our second course was a filet of Grouper with potatoes & cherry tomatoes. The fish was perfectly cooked & seasoned. We... More

Family supper with two young children. The waiter was fun and very helpful. The food was delicious. Highly recommend the fish lasagne.

We found this restaurant about 20 years ago and have been perhaps a dozen times since over the years - Venice is not a great place for decent good value food but we considered this to be a decent straightforward trattoria with fairly priced pasta dishes etc. But never again. The food was foul - I had a "Soup of... More

This place was a disappointment. It's strong on atmosphere and quick service, but weak in the areas that matter most. The staff was very nice, but the food wasn't very good. We had been in Italy for 2 weeks, and the food had been great everywhere. Most restaurants are generous with bread and parmesan cheese. Alla Palazinna is not. My... More

We had just an hour to find somewhere to eat before returning to the airport. This was a great place to watch the world bustle past over the Guglie bridge while we had lunch. There is also a very pleasant terrace through the restaurant. The service was very good and they made an effort to get us our meal quickly... More

Nice position by the canal and not far from the railway station. Lovely garden terrace at the back of the restaurant with a quiet romantic atmosphere. Good Italian dishes of pasta risotto etc.

We came here at the suggestion of our gondolier. It wasn't our best meal in Italy but it was very good. I had some great seafood risotto that I remember fondly. It was also pleasant to eat in the quiet and shady garden by the canal.

We passed by this place and where immediately appealed by the nice looking garden, providing some shadow and a quiet seat in bustling Venice. We were pretty much disappointed by the food and wine, however, the cheese platter being the most listless we ever had, with some cheap cheese without much flavour. Also the house wine was one of the... More

Place looked good-staff welcoming but from then on it went downhill. This was 5th night eating out in Venice and the previous 4 evenings establishments served tasty food-but not this time .My wife's fruitjuice was fine; my wine was fine. I ordered ravioli- 7/8 pieces arrived and I could not taste anything of the indicated ricotta nor any taste of... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
