This was one of the stops on our "Coffee and Venetian Sweets" tour and we had the tiramisu. It was very good. Will definitely go back to try some of their other sweets but our first experience was very good.

Tried their popular krapfen tiramisu, enjoyed it immensely with coffee! I think this was one of the recommended food places by Free Venice Walking Tour that we took. They also serve spritz which the locals order most of the time.

In Venice for the Carnival and we ended up going here both mornings for breakfast AND back once more on the way out of town to stock op on Frittella con Crema (the special carnival pastry)! Reasonably priced food and the entire staff was SO FRIENDLY!

This place was recommended by a local and didn't feel as touristy as many places in Venice, and the location is away from crowds of tourists. We only had time to go once, so we can't give a definitive review, but we would be happy to go back someday.

We finally felt like we had found the heart of Venice when our VRBO owner told us about this place for cappuccino in the morning - quiet mornings, we were the only tourists and they were so patient with my attempts at Italian..great coffee and pastries, fabulous location , and drinks with savory treats in the afternoon - wonderful!

Was brought here for a break by my tour guide and had the unexpected surprise of finding a mouldy strudel, which my unfortunate husband had already ate half of, before we discovered it. It wasn't particular hot that day (in the low 20s degrees Celsius) and we were there at around noon so it must have been sitting out for... More

The Pasticceria Italo Didovich provides the perfect spot to chill and watch the world go by. The food is great as is the coffee and the pastries are wonderful. If you are in the neighbourhood... My family and I stopped here almost every morning for pastries and cappuccinos. It was on our main route from where we were staying in Cannaregio to the main sights, and it came recommended by the owner of our apartment. The staff always had a hearty "buon giorno" for us each time we entered, and they were very patient with... More

We ate here for breakfast, which included delicious almond pastries and some sort of apple and pine nut pastry, as well as the typical nuttella/jam-filled croissants. All were fresh and delicious, but the former ones stood out as being unique. We also ordered coffees and stood at the bar with our family of five. The staff was really friendly, and... More

This neighborhood bar and pastry shop staff is not particularly friendly to visitors but welcoming to locals. The fritelli made for Carnival were very good and light and the apple streudel good too. I was disappointed at the display case as there was little in the way of variety or color and I'd say they are overated.

Didovich is a superb pastry, dessert and coffee shop that does all three extremely well. It offers a great assortment at very good prices and should be included in the list of Venice Restaurants.

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
