Very quiet when we visited but the staff were friendly and the drinks were cheap. Good music and the football was on.

As students of the school next door, we have eaten at Raging Pub several times and we have even made friends with the waitresses. The food and drinks are always excellent. Highly recommend!

Companion wanted full breakfast (as compared to expresso and pastry) and this place in one corner of Campo Santa Margherita right next to the Punto Simply Market fits the bill, it opens early and very near to where we stayed in Dorsoduro. It has outside seatings with umbrellas as well as indoor with open windows. Waitstaff in the morning have... More

My brother and I were traveling through venice and had sat down at this bar during the day to have some beers. It seemed nice enough, just like any other bar. Maybe a bit on the expensive side. Later that night, we witnessed both bar tenders, drunk, beating up some tourists for using the bathroom. I'm surprised they're still in... More

We were trying to find a place for a good breakfast and had settled on a place just down the road at a cafe when one of our group ran up and said "I've got the place for breakfast!!" So, naturally, we said Grazie to the waiter at the table, left, and promptly arrived at the Raging Pub. Don't let... More

Two of my party had gone on ahead of us to get drinks. The rest of us suddenly came across a situation in the entrance to the bar. I was amazed to see that my son was being man-handled by a waiter. He was being poked, shoved and shouted at. I rushed across to intervene. The waiter was being extremely... More

Unbelieveable scenes. Myself and my friend went into this pub, i went to the bar to order a drink while my friend went to the toilet. All of a sudden a chinese man behind the bar was demanding 2 euros from me as my friend was using the toilet. I naturally declined to give him anything. However he then became... More

This place might be OK for a quick drink, but the food is little more than reheated frozen meals prepared in a microwave in the back. I would avoid eating here at all costs, especially given the many other options nearby.

The day we walked around Venice it was around 40C so finding spots of shade was a task as they were all full! We saw the tables under the awning and I just insisted on sitting down and ordering a LARGE Peroni. The staff were all young Japanese girls. The beer was fine and best of all cold;there was a... Reading the earlier reviews, it looks like this bar/restaurant has changed hands. Four of us stopped for a drink, two draught beers & 1/2 litre of white wine. My mate who knows his beers took the beers back because they were not up to scratch and changed them to Peronis, with the barman still telling him that the beer was... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
