The ambiance ambiance is great, but the good part ends there. The waiter service was terrible: unhelpful, rude and not responsive (almost had to get up and start dancing on the table so they could take our orders). We went there after the famous rice on squid ink, which I considered poorly prepared. I do recognize that ham/salami selection looks... More

We found this lovely Osteria as we were wondering around the Doursdoro area on our last day in Venice. We decided to have a small lunch there as the meat platter look fantastic. We sat inside where there are lots of tables and had a meat platter, a grilled veg platter and a couple of glasses of vino. All excellent.... More

We went to Venice for our 20th Anniversary. We were recommended to go to this restaurant by the host of our B & B where we were staying. It was one of his favorite restaurants and now we know why, it is now our favorite. Amazing charcuterie board (we had the large board). We enjoyed it so much that 2... More

my wife and I discovered this Osteria during our week's stay in Venice and enjoyed it so much, we finished off our evening there, three nights in a row ! The girls ( ladies) behind the bar were totally friendly and welcoming. As well as enjoying our limoncellos and wine, we did eat there a couple of nights.. It's hard... More

We visited here as part of a night out in this area of the Dorsoduro. The winery the glass was superb, high quality for low prices. We also decided to eat here, and shared a plate of meat and cheese between the two of us. The plate of food was massive, and a great selection, the staff hand carve the... More

Set in a busy but attractive square this is clearly very popular with locals. We had an excellent cicetti type meal - a seafood salad and tuna carpaccio together with a couple of excellent glasses of pinot grigio. Unusually, no service charge was added to our bill despite the fact that the service was probably the best we received in... More

First visited Bifora nearly ten years ago, it was good then and it is still good now. The Owners, brother and sister are still working hands on. That says it all. You will get great atmospheric surroundings, delicious food - cold cuts, cheese, assorted traditional fish dishes and wonderful wine. It gets crowded, go early.

Visited twice during my stay in Venice. The food was delicious the service can be a touch slow at busy times but not a problem. The excellent food makes up for it, and the wines are reasonably priced. When visiting Venice don't leave without visiting Bifora.

Excellent Service and really tasty food. Recommend by a Venetian, it's where he and his family choose to eat. We had a platter of antipasti of meats salad and cheese and some squid ink cuttlefish and polenta. Highly recommend it.

Pleasant location that we stumbled upon. I had the smoked tuna carpaccio - unbelievably delicious. My guy had the squid and polenta the first time we ate there and the prosciutto and melon the second. Can't say enough about this place. It'll be the first place I visit next time I go to Venice.

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
