At about 7:15 on a Saturday night, we were the only customers. By about 7:45, the place was full. We had scallops for an appetizer; there were three and they were delicious, in breaded cheese on clam shells. We had the cutlets and asked for a pasta instead of potatoes - no problem; the dishes came out with a spaghetti... More

We went because I saw the gluten free board, it was fantastic. My husband had normal spaghetti and bruschetta and said it was the best he had, I had the gf macaroni and the Tuscan salad and it was excellent. Staff were very good.

Stumbled on this spot for a late lunch. Nice to get away from the big crowds and settle in a quiet square. A few outdoor tables. Fresh ingredients, reasonable prices.

I came here because of the great review on Trip Advisor. I was looking for a restaurant that serves gluten free. The wine and pasta was good. The service was very poor. I was alone and I was treated like I don't exist. The servers were all curt. It was a waste of time and money.

The personnel were really nice and it is not too expensive. Meals were nice - it is mostly typical Italian cuisine - pizza, pasta, risotto... if you stay are staying at the hotel, you´ll get a discount (which, however, does not apply to pizza)

It's been a few years since we visited this hidden Venice gem in July 2007, but I do remember that it was one of the most memorable dining experiences of our vacation trip. Great food, affordable prices and excellent service; everyone in our party (including two pre-teen kids) was very pleased. If I ever have the pleasure to visit Venice... More

We went to Restaurant Malibran to accompany a gluten allergy! We were not disappointed. The gluten free pizza was delicious, and the pasta was great as well! Good service and relatively inexpensive.

They took arrival of our group of 9 in their stride (including 5 kids) -- efficient friendly service. Gluten-free pizzas easily accommodated. Relaxed atmosphere: good value, convenient location off the main drag by Rialto but without tourist restaurant hard sell vibe

We ordered bolognesa and seafood (pescatora) pasta. Both dishes were good enough. The service was also great and the average price is better than other near restaurants.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
