Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

One of the oldest restaurants in Venice (1894) this is a charming place with warm woods and a naval atmosphere that is warm and welcoming. Service is professional and attentive. The menu is extensive, The Sarde, Branzino, Sole, Fegato, Zuppa di Pesce and Fritto Misto are recommended. The Fettucine alla Granceola (small soft-shell crabs form the lagoon) and the Spaghettoni alle Vongole are exceptional. Enjoy the polenta that comes with nearly every dish. Venetian, loaded with seafood and risottos though a few meat dishes are offered. The wine list matches the menu. Prices are reasonable.

Well well well. What high hopes my beautiful girlfriend and I had. The name suggested a feast of carbohydrate craving carbonara, the exterior display showed a delightful decor with pasta bursting from the walls and I was pleasantly surprised when I found a loo-seat worthy of Buckingham palace. My girlfriend had the cuttlefish pasta and she said it was AMAZING! One of her favourite meals in Venice, and obviously what they like to serve there. She was very impressed despite it being slightly costly. One can therefore understand our disappointment when I was served a pizza that didn’t even match that of Tesco’s finest - rather it resembled a frozen pizza left in the freezer for one year too long with a touch of fresh mozzarella to disguise the rotten crusts. Not an exaggeration - believe me. I wouldn’t wish this Pizza on my friend as a nasty joke, nor force feed to my worst enemy. €11.5 thrown into the Venice money pit. Lesson from this? Don’t get pizza here. Other than that the restaurant was nice. The waiter was lovely. However the place was overpriced for what we got. Lots of hidden costs at the end. Example a) water cost €5 and b) service charge €6 - considering we only had a main and water this made a very quick and normally cheap lunch €40. H

We were recommended this restaurant from the receptionist at the hotel we were staying at. The service was great. Food tasted pretty good but it was very expensive. Don’t think we will be coming back but it was a great experience though!

Place looks great, very large selection of wines, up to € 1.790 per bottle! Food was bad and very un-italian, carpaccio and cold seafood platter came directly from the freezer and were stil frozen and covered with water, tasted like water too. The seafood risotto was undercooked and seafood had no taste what so ever. Imagine yourself ordering a very expensive bottle of wine and have to eat this poor food...! And the bathroom was extremely dirty, what gave an unsafe feeling in this COVID time.

The food was very boring not dressed so bland. The salmon start was just smoked salmon put on a plate with some white fried style bread with some garlic type mayo...72 euros for two lasagna 2 starts 2 glasses of wine and a bottle of water...service wasn’t great either. Ended up going to the counter for the bill...said 64 euros gave 65.... then they came after me out side the restaurant the paper had curled at the bottom at the end it was £72 with service...has to go back in and give them another 7 euros. Worse place I’ve ever been to. This restaurant from the reviews is abit of a tourist trap....you’d do well to avoid.

Have you ever been to a restaurant that charged you $100 Euro plus for a piece of fish?? With no warning??!! Of course the answer is no. But they did it to me tonight. My best friend ordered the exact shame piece of fish for $30-35 Euro about one month ago. Then they added 12.5% tip!! This place is a joke. Food ok. Half of our party walked out on it. Presentation excellent. Blatant rip off unconscionable. We spent TONS of money to travel here despite the floods to show support for Venice. This restaurant abused us in return. Very sad. Never again. Ps: #Opportunist Pss: # RipOff Psss: #Shame

Both the presentation and quality of the food was great here, I had the caprese salad and tomato basil spaghetti. The waiter brought the pan of spaghetti out table side and spooned it into the plate and then grated fresh Parmesan on top. The prices were ok, I thought 5€ for a water and 4€ for coke was a bit much considering the cover and service charges, but it was still a great experience.

Asked the waiter for some olive oil and he said we couldn't have any, that only butter goes with bread, olive oil is only for salads. Ridiculous and rude.

We had a stunning meal here, the food was amazing if a bit expensive. In fairness the prices for "normal" wine/prosecco prices are good. This was the best food we ate while in Venice, but also the most expensive. Lovely room and service.

Most welcoming as we walked in but that’s where it finished. We each had a main course and only one of us was satisfied by our meal! My Mother (who is from Venice and knows all about good food) had the Pasta Fagioli! Thin watery soup with hard pasta and no beans! I had the Spaghetti al a vongole, again spaghetti very ‘al dente’ so just as well I had an extremely small portion!! My husband had Fegato Veneziana which he enjoyed (fortunately) because with 2 glasses of wine we paid €84. We really should have revisited the Osteria Campagna with wonderful food and much better value for money!!

The atmosphere is amazing and the story behind is truly historical. The food portions are very small, therefore they very overpriced, but their quality is high. The service is friendly, although had to pour the wine for myself.

If you looking to eat seafood you have to choose this restaurant. The dishes are delicious and the staff is very friendly. We ate pasta with seafood and mix of fried seafood and it was an excellent choice and one more thing the glasses from Murano are amazing. Would highly recommend!

Starting from the service, which was outstanding, and the starters (buffalo mozzarella and the prosciutto san daniele) which were not only great but quite a big portion, we were already quite pleased with the restaurant! The ambiance is also very nice- they’ve used parts of an old yatch to create the place which makes for a very interesting atmosphere! For mains, we had two pastas to share: spaghetti with tomato and basil (which was very good!) and a spaghetti carbonara (off the menu). This was the one mistake we made and the big disappointment: the carbonara was not good at all. Granted, it wasn’t on the menu, so perhaps still to the menu and you should be fine!

San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
