About
Giovanni e Paolo.

The really friendly guy at the bar recommended a great Venetian spritz to us with Select. We went back on our second night in Venice. Very relaxed and popular with tourists and locals. Good price.

We stopped in after a tour to have the house wine and Cicchetti after a recommendation from our tour guide. It was an excellent recommendation with reasonable prices.

We had a quick lunch there with tasty varieties of seafood & nice slices of bread with varied tasty ingredients (cinchetti?). We didn't have anything to drink but we enjoyed our lunch. They also had good prices.

Had walked past this bar on a few occasions whilst exploring Venice and it was always busy. Managed to get a table this evening and nothing disappointed. The two guys behind the bar were friendly and helpful as this was our first experience of Venetian cicheti. Food reasonably priced, good choice of dishes and all tasty. Drinks all reasonably priced and a good selection of both red and white wines. Good atmosphere with a mixture of locals and tourists. Where else in Venice can you get enough food for 4 and a couple of drinks each for a total of €70?

This became our favorite bar in Venice. Amazing spritz for 2,50EUR and cicchetti for 1,50EUR. You can take the food and drinks and sit outside on the bridge with (IMHO) the best view in Venice. The only problem is that the bar wasn’t always open during their stated opening times :(

If you are looking for a real nice place, with a lot of different types of wine and finger food, relax atmosphere, no posh place, typical Venetian style this is the place for you. Generally I come here with my friends and sometimes with my students.

This little gem was fortunately located near to our accommodation. As other reviewers have said its a small Ostaria situated on a bridge over a canal. There is not enough room inside to swing a cat around, but every inch of space has been used to its most. Its mainly a wine bar however there is beer on offer as well. The food on offer is amazing, you will not know what to pick. If you cannot stand inside, then go outside with the locals and sit/stand on the bridge steps. No signs of any drunkenness, bad behaviour or the threat from the Police for drinking on the streets. Its just a nice friendly relaxing place to have a drink like the locals do. You could pick a worse place in the world than this to spend a relaxing hour or so having a drink.

Venice has no shortage of beautiful spots from which to contemplate the wonder of the city, but I think the view from the bridge over the canal looking back at the Basilica and Campo Santi Giovanni e Paolo is the most stunning I have seen. The Ostaria Al Ponte is charming and lively; plenty of wines, the "cicheti" are fine and assorted plates of cold cuts and cheeses were good, but it is the location that stands out and deserves full marks. If you are discrete you can take your glass up onto the bridge and just take in the moment. Simply spectacular.

The highlight of this Ostaria is the fact that you can pick up your wine and cicchetti and sit on the bridge next to it watching the world go by! Fantastic atmosphere next to the church, truly Venice experience. Just enjoy a nice glass of wine with amazing cicchetti in a laid back atmosphere away from the beaten tourist path. We stopped by every evening for aperitif around sunset and returned for a before bedtime drink. Just an amazing atmosphere... highly recommended.

Awesome cicchetti which are honestly priced. Wonderful fun service. It’s small so be patient if there is a line. Grab your food and glass and eat on the bridge!

My girlfriend and I stayed nearby at the locanda la Corte and we found this place whilst walking back to the hotel. The music was playing well and there was a great atmosphere in the bar. We had two Venetian spritzs and had some of the tapas which was good also. The prices were so reasonable compared to the rest of over priced Venice. I highly recommend a visit.

A must to pop in for an authentic Venice experience. Here you'll literally rub shoulders with the older locals and be swept away with the friendly chatter and 6pm immerse and enjoy the Venician social event of the day. In the back lanes go seek and find yourself !

Tiny Ostaria with good value Chichetti and beers/wines. We visited off-season so I would expect it to be very busy in Summer. Only a couple of tables inside.

A proper local Ostaria, a Venizian Tapas bar essentially. put your own plates together of fresh seafood and meats, sausages and cheeses. Incredibly cheap alcohol, bottled beers €2.50 and a glass of prosecco €1.50! Perfect for dinner, late night drinks or late night post drink food!

Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
