Food is good make sure you go for the tourist menu at €14 for starter main and a dessert. Good value for money good food but poor poor service they aren't very welcoming and personally I think it's because we were English as the local Italians got a different service.

Medium food quality, the main course is a small portion, and, finally 10 eur more on the bill, they appologized...hope just a mistake...

Saturday, 31th December: two adults and two kids. Points of strenght: it was 14:45 but they did not claim was late; the kids did not eat anything and no service has been charged despite they were booking two seats; personnel kind, even if not so prone in explaining food characteristics (but remember it was so late). Points of weakness: food... More

Best food I've had in Italy so far. Portions were actually filling, tasted great. High quality italian food, 11/10 would recommend.

This restaurant is down a dark little alley near the Rialto Bridge. I have been twice for lunch this December 2016. Both times I partook of the set menu - €14 for three courses, excluding drinks. They add 10% service but no cover charge, which is ironic, as they served me nicer bread than most other restaurants. Both times I... More

We were made to feel welcome by both the waiter and manager, who both spoke excellent English. the food was very good and very reasonably priced (especially for the location, just off the grand canal, near the Realto Bridge).

The Fried shrimp, calamari in a very light batter was outstanding, as good as any tempora anywhere. Very good pizza also. House wine very good for the price. No regrets

The waiter couldn't be bothered to tell us the specials rather mumbling on the very corner of the table whilst walking off. Fried potatoes needed longer in the pan, food in general was ok but nothing special. Very expensive at €322 for 4 of us including wine. Our most expensive meal in Venice and our least enjoyable. I wouldn't bother... More

This nice little family run restaurant was located near the Ponte Rialto but just off the main tourist drag. Most of the clientele seemed to be tourists anyway but it was not one of those messy massive crowded people places. The interior of the restaurant was rather homey and the hosts were friendly and gave efficient service. They have a... More

This restaurant was recommended by a colleague to go to whist visiting Venice! Was so happy that we made the effort to go. It was our favourite meal whilst in Venice. Lovely intimate setting, stunning wine and the BEST calamari I've ever had!

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
