really good t bone steak at this restaurant, very busy on the night tbough and more of a delay than we were happy with dispite a reservation made days earlier but it was certainly worth the wait when it arrived. It was succulent and beautifully seasoned and came with a good selection of veg .At 92 euros with a nice... More

A very busy bar/eatery but worth waiting to get in. Was advised to get the T'bone steak to share between 2 and that's been the best recommendation I have had!! The steak was a wonderful slab of meat and the potatoes/vegetables were seasoned perfectly. You pay per weight so ours was £62.50 and worth every single penny......horse meat is very... More

I would recommend this place for atmosphere, drinks and snacks, not necessarily to eat dinner. We (4 of us) had a steaks and lamb cutlets. Good but not great and it all felt a bit rushed. Not a relaxed dining experience shall we say. But would go back there again for a nice glass of something and and chicetti.

Great value Spritz (3 euros) and delicious House Vino (2.5 euros), a real taste of local life in the quieter part of Venice. Scrummy ciccheti for 1 euro each. You must go!

Excellent T-bone steak platter served with a variety of well cooked vegetables and chips, eaten in a lively and quirky bar. Good selection of wines, reasonably priced. Need to book to ensure a table. Very popular with locals and tourists.

Super busy and friendly bar 5 minutes from our hotel (Al Mori d'Orient). Chicetti to were lovely, one euro each, as was the house prose do at 3 euro each. Went both before and after dinner in the same evening! Can eat outside at canal side if you can find a perch or inside. Small number of tables and seats.... More

My girlfriend and I got this recommendation because locals go here and they have a special horse meat dish for two people. Although horse meat is supposed to be cheap meat we wanted to try it. When we got there the restaurant opened and between 6 and 7 we had "duo bichieri di processo" and some finger food. Good price... More

On our Air B&B hosts recommendation, we tried Timons. Great food, good wine, great atmosphere. The staff was attentive but not in your face. We lucked out with no reservation and got a table right away. T-bone for 2 was outstanding. Served on a wooden cutting board with roasted potatoes, grilled pineapple, roasted pepper, broccoli, escarole and beans and arugala.... More

We visited here on a recommendation from a friend, and weren't disappointed. It opened at 6, and we got there at about 6.02 to find it was already quite busy. Decent wine, and an excellent array of cicheti at low prices. We managed to get a seat at a table, and stayed for a few drinks. A very friendly bar,... More

Ace bar for drinks and cichetti, it was busy but we found a spot stood at the side to rest our plates. Would definitely go back!

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
