Italian restaurants are seldom cheap, and it’s even harder to find a good reasonably priced restaurant in Venice. So I was rather happy to find a « degustazione » menu at the Antica Besseta, meaning a surprise three-course dinner, for 40 euros (+ cover charge + drinks,...More

We were recommended this place near where we were staying. The food was really tasty but portions are tiny and very poor value for money. We had sea bass which was tiny and came with a single mushroom, a minature carrot and a teeny courgette....More

Went to the restaurant for my partners birthday. The atmosphere at the restaurant was somewhat uninspiring and the food less than average with prices that are on the high side. Quite frankly a bit of a disappointment!

Lovely quiet little restaurant. We had a beer and a prosecco, both of which were good quality. Service was quick, and although the man did not speak English, he was lovely and kind. Clean and tidy tables (we sat outside), well covered with shade.

This was our 3rd visit to Venice and once again we decided this is our favorite place to eat. Tucked away in a quiet corner, it is in walking distance from our hotel, away from the crowds. We have eaten here 6 times, I can’t...More

Went on lunch and tried a lasagne. The portion was really small for 10 €, which would have been ok if it had tasted really good, but it did not really taste of anything...not even salt. Friendly staff though.

4 euros cover charge each. We didn't even have a table cloth, just a runner. Basket of bread, but only bought in bread not made in house. Service was slow or very slow. Best part of the meal was the Valpolicella at about 26. The...More

Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district)
when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring
cars and buses close to the center of Venice.
Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking
Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes
with energy from travelers and students. Historic
palaces and former industrial buildings house some
departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture

The restaurant is located in Salizzada Ca’ Zusto, between Campo San Giacomo dell’Orio and Campo Nazario Sauro in a very privileged position in the hidden Venice, away from the throngs of tourists yet conveniently close to the centre. The outside seating area is characterized by a plant of vines which embraces the entire facade, creating a pergola which provides welcome shade during the summer heat spells. On the side of the restaurant is one of the narrowest calli (Venetian street or alley) in Venice: two persons cannot walk in it side by side! The trattoria’s inside decor is warm and inviting: two inside rooms, for a total of 50 seats, with furnishings from the late 19th century, including marble tables, graceful sideboards and glass cases, original thonet chairs, and a collection of paintings by well-known artists which embellish the walls. That alone would be enough to attract connoisseurs in search of a special place to have a meal! But, most importantly, the Antica Besseta provides an excellent cuisine which is halfway between the discovery of traditions and the search of new sensations.
