This is a plain and old fashioned restaurant. If you are expecting a million dollar fit out, multi-lingual servers and fancy tableware, go somewhere else. On the plus side are excellent home-cooking style food, friendly and helpful service and generous servings. The clientele is mainly local - and the waiter and the cardiganed owner seem to know everyone. We had... More

If you are looking for a modern, hip restaurant don't come here. If you are looking for a "native" experience with good non pretentious food (for the reasonable price you will be paying), then this is a good place. The food has Tuscan roots with Piedmontese influences ... the service is friendly and also "down to earth". We tried various... More

We were wondering the streets of Turin looking for a place for lunch for our party. Finding a good place for lunch around 1-2pm on a Sunday is difficult, now imagine for a party of 7. We passed by this restaurant looking for other place. After checking some places and couldn't find space for our group we returned to this... More

I asked a local shopkeeper for a recommendation and ended up at Da Mauro. The food was simple but delicious and excellent value for money. The menu was in Italian so I asked for suggestions, especially as one of us did not eat red meat. The waiter was very helpful and his recommendations did not disappoint. The decor is old... More

On a business trip we visited this restaurant on arrival. It was advised by a colleague for food quality and position. The food was nice, simple and seems prepared for a family meal. Service was a bit abrupt but the lady at the cash desk was very helpful.

I have been living in Italy for 20 years visiting different cities or villages tasting local traditions. In torino da mauro is a must.....you will be shocked at the diversity of the menu highlighted by local foods to see a price point that existed in the 80s....truly amazing whether ypu order the gnocci or tag....the veal and beef dishes simply divine.....local... We decided to try this place for lynch and were not disappointed. We had the radicio brusheta. Actually shredded red cabbage with a little olive oil on a parmesian encrusted brushetta. We shared this and it was plenty and tasty. My husband ordered the pesce misto da livorno. Which had fish, shrimp, muscles and octupus. He said it was very... More

We walked by this restaurant on a Sunday night and we noticed how busy it was - and how charmingly old-fashioned it looked. The menu typed on a type-writer, the staff in black and white, the decor circa 1970 - it looked like the kind of neighbourhood restaurant one would want to know. The welcome was warm and the owner... On arrival for dinner without reservation the quirky lack of formality was evident in the " sit wherever you like" introduction. We sat in the first room, but the restaurant is deceptively much bigger than initial entry suggests. Having chosen our table the almost mechanical efficiency of the service came into play. It is perhaps unfair to describe the waiters... More

This is a real neighborhood restaurant, mainly local residents and regular eaters. The menu is written on a typewriter! Just sit back and watch how a really well run restaurant seems effortless. The food is traditional Italian, very well cooked and full of flavor, good portion sizes. The carpaccio of fish starter was delicious. Why go to a rubbish tourist... More
