I'm a lone traveller and tend to get treated quite poorly in restaurants and cafes but not here. I had a fabulous time. I was made to feel at home by my waitress who treated me like a friend. She spoke excellent english and was knowledgeable about the dishes and wine. On her recommendation, I had the pasta in yellowtail... More

Wandered around town and found this cute, friendly and tasty restaurant. Love the decor! New, very clean with a bright atmosphere. If you don't speak Italian the the chef comes from the kitchen to take your order. We both had the beef filet and it was very good. Mine needed to be cooked a bit more so the chef took... More

Absolutely traditional, absolutely delicious The service was very friendly and helpful. The portions are huge, not overpriced and heavenly. I only wish I could have ate more!! The atmosphere is so unique and wonderful. So lucky to have tried this place! Best bread basket ever Assolutemente tradizionale e buono!! Il servizio molto buono e gentile. Il porzione di piatti è... We visited for dinner and were impressed by the overall quality although we thought the pasta could have been better. Pasta was served in generous portions but the ratio of sauce to pasta was not high enough for our taste. The highlight was a very reasonably priced "vitello tonnato" that my wife declared to be the best she had eaten... More

If you are looking to try traditional home made Genovese food this is the place to visit. The name Ugo means home made, as our waitress pointed out, and was also the great grand father's name of the owber of the place. The menu is different almost every day, the waiters are very helpful and explain what each dish is.... More

Very simple but wholesome food with right-sized portions. Good choice of wines and friendly service. Well worth a try if you want a typical Genoese "osteria".

i went there yesterday night with a friend, the place is very cozy and old-fashioned, clean and warm. the food was very tasteful: we both hade a main dish (pansoti with walnut sauce), a homemade dessert (apple pie with ice-cream, delightful), shared a bottle of red wine (17€ for the bottle) and had a coffee. we were happy with the... I had reserved for a business lunch at this quite good typical restaurant. Unfortunately we got caught up in an endless meeting and we ended up arriving 45 minutes late. I entered the restaurant, speak to the man behind the counter about our reservation, and he explodes in front of me saying "45 minutes late, not even a phone call,... More

Trattoria Ugo e Uga, names of the original owners, is small restaurant tucked away on a back street in downtown Genoa, has been serving home-cooked meals since 1930. The locale is nicely decorated, not fancy, but more like a diner back in the USA. There is booth seating, paper placemats, and no frills. The service is very friendly, though often... More
