After three days in Rome and five in Venice, Genoa was supposed to be a quick layover before taking the ferry to Barcelona. However, the folks at La Berlocca managed to pull out the right level of genuine charm and amazing flavours that "made" the trip for us. We had previously been disappointed with either quality of food or level... More

We were warmly greeted and were brought a truly delicious bruschetta. We each had pasta, one was sardine sauce and the other seafood. Both were delicious and so was the accompanying bread, mine was not consistently hot but the flavour was excellent. Our server was helpful and we had a nice Barbera. The room is simple and pleasant.

We had a simple and delicious meal at this restaurant. the waiter had little English but was very patient as we tried to understand his description of the menu. We loved the complimentary vegetable cake... (Like a spinach and egg frittata ) and then we had fish and potato starter followed by what we think were polenta chips .... We... More

We were the only tourists in this tiny restaurant deep in the heart of old Genoa. As the host’s English was about as good as our Italian a very nice young chef kept coming out of the kitchen to help us with food and wine questions. Three of us shared oysters natural, lobster catalan style (perfectly cooked, just warm, served... More

The place where I like to enjoy fish in a cozy atmosphere in the middle of the historical center of the ancient town of Genoa not far from the aqarium. Worth to book and excellent for an exclusive dinner or for a lunch.

Wonderful family owned eatery with EVERYTHING home made by Aperto and Cena. Fish dishes were supurb including a unique fish ravioli as a first course and second a tomato based fish soup that I had to get seconds, and a sample of custard and chocolate deserts to top it off. Not easy to find but worth it.

We stumbled across the restaurant purely by chance while strolling the small lanes in the area one evening. No menu, no fancy table settings, just perfectly cooked food, made to order from the freshest ingredients after discussions with the chef. Pasta - light, tasty accompanied by a fabulous pesto sauce. A delicious white wine, specially labelled for the owner was... More

Buried in the narrow lanes of Genoa is this little gem. It's worth the effort to find it, and it isn't obvious, since there are two numbering systems in operation! Great food, friendly service, very cosy atmosphere (there are only about 10 tables...). Interesting menu and no difficulty providing lactose-free dishes.

We found this restaurant through roughguide to Italy. Walking downtown through the warren of streets that get dark quite early at night, we did not realise that we were heading straight for the red light district. The streethookers strutt their stuff amidst vintage boutiques, callcenters and artisan foodshops. Later at night the seedy atmosphere starts to feel a but threatening,... More
