What a fantastic and charming discovery...everything a real trattoria should be and more! Chef and owner Marino cooked me up an abundant portions of delicious fresh homemade pasta, a must try also the fish with chimichurri! This is a must visit when you come to Trieste, I have never felt so at home at an eating place, the combination of atmosphere, wine and good food, the smile and jokes of the host, is just perfect...Thank you Marino!

Small hidden place, we stopped for lunch on the way back from Croatia. Chef and owner, very welcoming person and passionate about his work.
We took
Pasta with pesto for my daughter and the chef went out of his way to make it with very little garlic and so it was, my daughter loved it.
Spaghetti with seafood, abundant full of fish
Meat with very good chimicurry sauce (great piece of meat)
Dessert, caramel banana with ice cream, he was kind enough to bring a plate with banana and ice cream for my daughter even though we hadn't requested it, but both the gesture and the dessert were greatly appreciated by my daughter
Half a liter of wine
Coffee
Total 48 euros SUPER RECOMMENDED not only for the price but also for the quality

A place recommended by the managers of the Hotel Istria, located a few meters away. Small and welcoming place. Excellent and plentiful food. The evening I had dinner the chef also acted as a waiter (I don't know if this is always the case). Low prices. If I were to return to Trieste the place would be an obligatory stop. I had a chat with the chef who is a very kind and nice person. The restaurant accepts animals.

Unfortunately, my girlfriend and I decided to join some friends at this restaurant. We arrived after dinner and ordered a liter of draft white wine and a liter of sparkling water for drinking and talking with them. The service was perfect and so was the atmosphere but at the moment of paying the owner asked me 10 (!!) euros for the order. The sad thing is that my friends that also had dinner there paid way less compared to me and my girlfriend (e.g. 2 meatballs and 1 liter of wine -same as ours - 5 euros...).
The point is that the owner applies his own prices at the moment without basing them on the menu and without any rationality. In the end, nor me or my friends have seen the fiscal receipt.
Bad experience. I do not recommend this restaurant.

Me and my girlfriend came to Trieste very hungry. While we were searching for an open restaurant in the middle of the day, we stumbler upon this restaurant. The owner invited us in and prepared us a delicious lunch. Highly recommend, thank you Smal!

Marino was so very friendly, and helpful. He asked me what I was interested in eating, I simply said "Pasta". And he recommended and made a wonderful seafood pasta dish with a very fresh anchovy salad!

It came out good!
We felt perfectly welcome and the owner recommended a choice of food that was more than delicious. We would recommend visiting Triest just because of this restaurant.

Well, we gone to this special place today. After we had to wait 10 minutes (with a glass of wine for free) we got a meal made by the chef himself. (Come early for specific meals) It was really great for two persons with starters, main dish and vino (1 L) about 40 € really cheap for that quality and best service!

Today we had dinner at Desideri e Auguri and it was great. The host is a super friendly and kind man, the food was lovely & tasty and the ambiance was very nice.
The host is doing everything by himself and it is perfect. Lots of respect and we will have dinner at Desideri again.
