I was there with my niece (5 years old) and my mother. My mother rested on a chair of the Torinese after the long day walking around and a waiter immediately told us "you must order something if you want to sit down". I said...More

We had to have a Spag Bol and the red bus tour said this place was authentic and a nice place, so after a few minutes looking we found it under an archway and we were pleasantly surprised. The service and staff were excellent, as...More

I love gelato. Especially unusual flavours. Until now my favorites were Licorice ( haven't found yet in Bologna), Carrot ( in Bergamo) and today discovered Rosemary- Mint at La Torinese. Have to leave Bologna in less than 24 hours but must eat more.

We were in August 2017. It was a Sunday and not everything was open. This restaurant was recommended by our hotel. We were very pleasantly surprised. As we were in Bologna we of course wanted to try bolognese. So we ordered the lasagne and the...More

We chose this restaurant because it's nicely located on Bologna's main square. It was terribly hot (think 38 degrees even at night) so being in the open air was more tolerable than underneath Bologna's many arches. The food was great with superfriendly service and an...More

We decided to eat here on a whim. However, we were very pleasantly surprised. The Lambrusco sausage risotto is the best risotto I have ever had anywhere. If you do order this, allow 20 minutes as it is cooked from scratch. The tagliatelle al ragù...More

Good ice cream BUT we decided to sit down to enjoy it and turns out that the small ice cream that would have cost 2e 50c if we took it to go costs 6 and 50 if you order it off the menu. A very...More

It's always a must have when I visit Italy and this time I tried a honey and rosemary. It was very, very good. Would recommend.

We have eaten at the restaurant on previous visits to Bologna but this time around we just stopped for a cone/cup of gelato to eat while sitting on the steps facing the cathedral in Piazza Maggiore and do some people watching and listening to the...More

In a unique setting, between Piazza Re Enzo and the porch of the Podesta Voltone, the historical crossroads between Via Rizzoli and Piazza Maggiore, where you can peek at the Neptune Statue and its square, in the heart of Bologna: here is La Torinese 1888. Famous since memorable times for its hot chocolates and its ice cream, today the place embodies more than one classification: bistro, beer-shop, ice cream parlour, coffee shop and restaurant. Sitting in the square or under the Voltone Podesta, or relaxing comfortably in the dining room you can taste the excellent flavours of the Torinese. The appointment? At lunch and dinner, but also for a drink, a snack or coffee break at any time of the day or night. The versatility and originality of the proposals are one of the place’s strengths, which also ranks among the promoters for the city's culture A completely innovative style that stands for high quality food, unique location, and side events: theme nights, mini-festivals, exhibitions, the organisation of international music festivals such as "To Be Jazz Festival "revolve around the La Torinese’s restaurant, with the aim of enhancing local landscape artists and celebrating the Bolognese tradition, an added value for tourists and visitors who arrive at La Torinese from all over the world. The place’s mission is also to support joint solidarity initiatives such as collecting funds for AGEOP.
