It was getting late and we were tired and desperate for something to eat. So many restaurants in Trastevere were overflowing with people. There was plenty of room in Il Conte di Montecristo, yeah, mistake number one not many people, (we were tired, remember?). We were greeted very enthusiastically, seated, orders taken, then largely ignored. His ravioli was too salty,... More

Had a delicious meal last night. Great service, good wine and excellent food. If you like strong cheese have the Gorgonzola and mushroom pizza. The waiter Larbi was wonderful- went above our expectations- especially with his wine choice. ( we did not like the house wine!). It is a quiet, relaxed atmosphere as it is down a side street but... Brings together italian food and international gastronomy; excellent pizzas, pastas, raviolis, lasagnes, and good desserts, friendly service, ambiance very quite.

Down one of the small side streets in Trastevere is this restaurant with sidewalk seating and a courtyard as well - the server helped us pick a great wine and made menu recommendations - seafood antipasti for 2 could have easily fed 4. The seafood spaghetti was equal parts pasta and seafood, both cooked perfectly. The artichokes (deep fried) were... More

The starter was nice but was bruschetta so difficult to get wrong. We ordered beef and we were given pork, when we spoke to the staff they said it was a menu printing error and ignored us when we suggested that this information would be more useful when customers ordered their food. We were asked if we would like salad... More

We visited this area on the recommendation of our hotel receptionist. She told us this is the area to eat in Rome and where the Romans themselves eat. Don't be put off by the graffiti on the walls. The food was excellent typical Roman menu pizza pasta but the quality exceptional. The staff were friendly and the service very good.... More

It looked a little odd in the beginning, not to many people. But the food was excellent, the waiter was funny and kind, and the whole experience was good. I can recommend the pasta dishes and the pizzas. The tiramisu was also excellent.

Our first warning should have been that we were lured into the restaurant from a different street. We sat in the "garden" that was a cement wall with plastic leaves lining it. My sister ordered a food-court like cheese pizza. While my mom and I planned to split a warm seafood antipasto. Unfortunately we couldn't eat it because it was... More

We were here on Saturday evening and we were lucky to get a table. A busy restaurant is usually a good sign. But this night was too busy so we were put on a table for 4 pesons but there were already two people eating there. And we almost sat on there food. We even thought of leaving and going... More

The food and prices were reasonable! I would by no means say this is the best restraunt in Rome! The service was decent and the atmosphere was okay as well! The food was pretty tastey (picture below). I would suggest this as a second option if something falls through or the restraunt you want is booked!

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
